I bought and tried WoW for a week. I just could not get invloved enough to keep playing. I didn't like the community, although i've heard it has gotten better. I didn't like how people just assumed I wanted to do what they were doing. I got lots of "We're doing [random instance], come." I suppose FFXI was like that in the early levels too though, alot of blind invites. I also didn't get into any guilds, nor did I know anyone. I'm sure if it wasn't for my first LS in FFXI I wouldn't have stayed.

So in summary, I'm sure WoW is a great game. I dont think its any better or worse then FFXI. I've just put to much time into, and have too many friends in FFXI for me to leave for WoW.

i played wow for 4 months, almost quit ffxi...its a really good game, ffxi has that community which i really enjoy

thats one of ff's strongest points. The people you meet there do leave a mark on you. The strong bonds you develop, the friendships and the storyline. It is honesly something no other game has of yet to touch.

Yeah FFXI can make for great friends, but also great enemies. I guess FFXI leaves room to be the dick you always wanted to be. The amount people that piss me off in-game far outweighs the good people bring into the game. Maybe I'm just getting over the whole MMO thing, but I can only have so many conversations about penis' before I get bored.

LoL the friends in MMOs are just that, any somewhat decent MMO can make insane friendships possible.

- still going strong last time I checked...
- I still think the people I knew in that game were so hardcore, its was awesome, and that was like 10 yrs ago and it was test based...

Having the possibilities for friendships really falls on how well you interact with the people, rather then whether the game makes it possible for you, these games by default make it possible. I've only been playing WoW for maybe 2 weeks now, and I have a following of like 20 people that always look out for me and vice versa, I've gotten like 6 invites from guilds, one from one of the "elite" guilds on Gorefiend. All in all, its a matter of what kind of person you are, and whether you make friends easily, whether you have friends in one of these games.

Holding your enemies in a soulstone so you can mock them whenever you want is sooo soo awesome...
