Arim, Emp pin is 600k now but have you noticed there is a group of gilsellers there now? I got another drop other day when it comes to emp it all comes down to luck just chose a camp keep killing flys and hope it pops near you. Even with ranger sub a thief/ranger will just flee to it making it pointless to even try running to it.

I have always believed the easiest way to fix the current gilseller situation is to:

Remove ALL gil in current circulation.

Yeah it would make a lot of people angry but I think its the most logical way to fix the problem.

Will S-E do it if I even suggested it? Probably not but I see it as one possible solution.

Nah, a much easier solution (and less detrimental than removing all Gil)

is just make items like Emperor Hairpin, Leaping boots, etc. all Ext. items.

That way, only those that want the items will camp them.

Think about it like this. Do gilsellers have to pay SE to play the game and sell gil? Yes they do. SE makes money off them regardless of what they do in the game, so do you think that SE would willingly lose that much money? (I have no clue how many gilsellers are currently active in FFXI on all servers) They are a corporation. Money is what they do. Only way you are going to drive home the point that people are fed up with the buying/selling of gil is like someone suggested, a mass staged account cancellation, but again that would most likely backfire because: a) most people would never agree to such a thing. b) SE may just pull up stakes if their loses rack too high and cancel the game completely. Is there really a solution to the buying/selling of gil (or w/e currency since this happens on all games)? I honestly doubt it. Only way they could possibly come to a reasonable conclusion is by setting max prices on items for the AH. But then again, the AH will dry out and you will have people sell items through /shout and inflate the prices again. One thing I can think of is to make new quests that actually reward gil (most of the gil quests cost more then they make or take an unholy amount of time) and then make some of the higher up items Ex.

This among other things is why I quit the game. It was no longer fun as it seemed to now be a game based around monetary gain and no longer about making friends. Even as I quit I recieved /tell's "Hey have any gil left that I can have?" "Hey, any gear your giving away?".

That right there offended me in more ways then I can count. But hey O well, it's history now^^.

even tho
the gm has a point saying

even if they say it its not concrete proof"
as much i wanted to blist that gm but still hand off...

SE can just simply say, "We're gonna catch all the gilsellers"
does it really mean they are? no... which kinda sucks....

to even JOKE AROUND i'm guessing you're not the onlyone saying this Whisp.
i think he's been repeating himself over and over.
not only to you but to everyone else.

sucks ass hardcore.
but i wish i was uber hax0rs and send a trojan to those gilsellers.
ruining my fun ; ;

To be honest the reason there was such a big inflation is not totally on the gilsellers shoulders. Gilsellers don't introduce any 'new' gil into the game actually. The gil that they get would just have gone to someone else had they not been camping the mob for 24/7. The issue with gilsellers is more of a monopoly issue along with that of other players not earning gil honestly like most of us do. Gilsellers that farm and camp items 24/7 merely transfer gil instead of adding new gil. Fish bots that sell to NPC on the other hand do introduce 'new' gil. When a fisher runs a bot for 10 hours and gets 12 stacks of bastore bream and then sells them all to NPC thats an assload of new gil introduced into the economy. Now think about 100+ bots doing that 247 and you can see where the massive influx of gil came from. Now don't get me wrong, I hate those bastards as much as anyone but the big problem with the legality of IGE is over intellectual property laws and international copyright laws as well. But the way i understood the issue was as such:

Gil is an intellectual property of SE. Therefore the gil I have, the gil you have, actually all belongs to SE. Therefore anyone making a profit off of said gil, is actually doing so illegally violating some intellectual property and internation copyright laws. I'm sure SE is trying to pursue them on something along these lines, but if whatever legal system SE has to go thru is like the US legal system, well it'd gonna take awhile to get anything done lol.

Whisp the GM says that if you entrap the gilsellers wiht an offer to buy gil you could face legal reprocussions as well? Does this mean that entrapment = concrete proof except that you will get booted too? Well who wants to be the mrytr and start up a new account on a seperate credit card, entrap the gilsellers and conswquently lose their seperate account as well? Do it for the good of Ifrit!

when you suddenly have people to whom gil is not an issue, prices will rise!

think of the ff economy as split in half. the old japanese economic system is one of crafting, rare-ex items, a handful of the very expensive items, a ton of gil, and exact frugal spending. then there is the newer "north american (release)" economic system which stands quite separate from the japanese. it's this north american economic system that is being flooded with new gil at a rapid rate thanks in large part to dumb players willing to pay out of their wallet to bring in this new gil. there is no exact frugal spending in these gilbuyers' minds. they'll gladly spend the extra 400k on an item since that's what..$10 irl?

Yeah you got a point there, didn't think of it like that but ppl buying gil en mass would mean the value of gil would decrease. A guess its a two fold problem really.

I dont think the market value of good item is entirely related with gil buying. Common item are just too...common now and their price dropped a lot. On the other hand, more and more people can afford and want good item since many of us are reaching the "end game". Even if i never bought gil, I'm ready to pay a lot more than I was to buy a rare item, and I know it's the same for everybody leveling a 2nd job.

Don't mean to be crude but gilbuying is such a dumb thing. You think in your mind "It's only 10 dollars more i can make that in xxx amounts of time working at my job." but everytime you spend 10 dollars it adds up. The day you quit this game whether it be a 2 years or 1 month you will probably regret all the money you spent, thats why raise 3 kotes use to be 300k when i started and are 1mil now, the gilsellers are slowly raising price so you have to buy from them.

i seriously thought the prices of everything will drop since the gilsellers are getting repetative drops.

and there are more in stocks.
like if they're wnating more gil i thought they would drop their prices then increasing it.
for example.
Seer's tunic

before it was like.... what... 30k?
and now its 10k?
cuz there's too much out there.

i serouisly dont know

Naa Like Kote gloves for Sam was 350k when i was that lvl at now that Gill sellers Keep getting the mob they Raised it too almost 1 mill....
more stuff in stock (whish is theirs) just means that they keep Riaseing and raiseing the price. Why sell something for 300k when u can for 800k and the only way ppl can get it is thru u?
maybe the odd person gets the nm but still they have majority over it.
