Quote: Beastmaster
The duration for which a beastmaster can maintain a pet invoked with the "Call Beast" ability will be extended. The new length of time, though varying depending on the type of pet brought forth, may be up to 90 minutes. Additionally, when not engaged in combat, pet healing will be possible through use of the "Stay" ability. Finally, the experience penalty previously incurred by a beastmaster while using a charmed monster will be done away with. OMG! They kinda fixed BST. I hope the XP penalty when having a Familiared pet is also gone. Then BST can 2hr something crazy and get awesome XP! I think it'd still calculate XP as if a higher lvl is in the party. |

Quote: Corsair
After the version update, corsairs across Vana'diel will be the happy recipients of several job enhancements. For starters, the effect of Phantom Roll will be augmented so that the effects can be felt even when neither a large nor Lucky Roll is made. To make a comparison, the efficacy of a corsair's roll will generally exceed that of a bard's song. Should a corsair roll an 11, the efficacy will, for the most part, exceed that of two bard's songs. The length of immobility a corsair suffers during their rolls has also been shortened. In addition, the merit point-accessible ability "Fold" will function to reduce the likelihood of busting, as well as modifying the effect of rolls. We will also be adding new gear that will further increase the range of Phantom Roll. When using the roll and this gear in tandem, even players engaged in combat at some distance from the corsair will fall within the area of effect. And as if that weren't enough, players can even expect new ammunition with rather enticing damage ratings. I just came. ![]() |

Does this mean they're doing away with the lucky number business and just making it so 11=win? |

No I think they're boosting all numbers. 11 was always the best roll you could have with the lucky number being the second best. Thats why 11 will be that of 2 bard songs or greater. I really hope that gear is going to be COR AF2 but it will more than likely be COR JSE of some sort since the pup update made no mention of gear for them. At least I don't think it did, COR update is the best news out of the 3 jobs listed (BST, COR & PUP). |

By the way it seems that sand has begun to slowly fill the vagina's of bards everywhere across Vana'Diel due to the Corsair update. A COR+BRD party is going to be even more insane than before tho. |

lol I'm just now leveling BRD and i don't mind this update. COR will now be more welcome to endgame events and parties. More people will level it and less people will be whining about no refresh. BRD still has one thing over COR anyway, Haste Songs!!! Edit: Also BST update my possess me to dig up my lvl 50 BST >.>. Can find ONE good pet and continually recharm it, using stay to heal it between fights. No more timing leave so you can get off one hit to kill it, which turns out to be 3 hits and ending up at 112 HP just to get something from 1% to 0. |

hohoho Time mage roll will fix that tho. SE stated that cor will get new rolls and they also stated that the will be new jobs in the next update with emphasis on plural. Some bards over at bg seem to not like this upgrade for corsair. lol |

Your probably right. Time Mage will be a bigger buff for COR than anything else then lol. Unless it gets Cure spells that allow it to sub something else, It's just gonna be another SMN. Sub WHM and heal whore til 75. I wish SE would stop being gay about expansion info, their supposed to have it out by November, now it's looking more like February. |

Well some have speculated that the Tarus casting meteor in the FFXI into movie are Time Mages with meteor being a non elemental attack. That would be hot but I doubt thats the case. There's an interview on bg with the dev. saying clues of the new jobs are in the FFXI into film (same one with the tarus casting meteor during the crystal war). |

This is the greatest update ever for bards. Now they dont have to play as that shitty job anymore. Well they still own corsairs on pulling, but dont tell anyone that. |

lol i don't think BRD will become obsolete just because the offchance that a COR rolls an 11 it's a major boost. Going for that 11 is gonna lead to alot of busts. |

Yea bard is not going to be obsolete and will still probably be taken over corsair in most situations but this is still a sweet update for corsair. |

Wooot! BRD is dead. Whatever, not like I play the game anymore haha. I think its great that COR might finally challenge BRD for AOE buffer role more often. Well in merit PTs you could still do BRD + COR. |

COR will never replace BRD untill it get's two instant class sleep spells. |
Author: | Eternus [ Fri Aug 24, 2007 12:26 am ] |
Post subject: | |
Yeah BRD does have the crowd control advantage still. There has to be some sort of difference between the two jobs. COR just has a sleep shot that they can do every so often. No AOE sleep. I don't care anyways haha. Crowd control was probably one of the more fun parts of BRD. |

Anyone else notice they worded this update differently? Seems more friendly conversation-like then matter-of-fact. Anyway, looks like another update to please the masses. Even though I don't really play much anymore, the whole BRD thing doesn't bother me. BRD will never be obsolete. Infact it might be nice to not be in such high demand. I like being brd but always having to be anon has bothered me for some reason. |

I'm sure Meteor is a lvl 75 Time Mage spell, so you wouldn't get Meteor w/ Time Mage sub. |

Several weapon skills have had the effects of TP adjusted in the following manner: - Raging Rush Damage varies with TP >> Chance of critical hit varies with TP - Penta Thrust Damage varies with TP >> Accuracy varies with TP - Skewer Accuracy varies with TP >> Chance of critical hit varies with TP Lol at gimping pentathrust. AKA drgs only decent WS. Thats like gimping sidewinder/slug shot for rng. This only makes sense if they made drg ridiculously powerful, which is highly doubtful. Now drgs can see what drks go through having their main WS with a retarded TP effect. |
