Could I get some opinions on what the most valuable class is currently? Things I'm looking for are:

-The class people always look for to invite to groups
-Strongest Solo class (needs to be able to solo nm's like thief used to)
-Funnest class

Thanks. I basically want to be able to adventure in the expansion zones and be able to kill a lot of valuable NM's alone, but still be viable in group situations.

I'm thinking rdm/nin is probably still the best? or is some dancer variation hella bomb? Thf/NIN any good at soloing anymore?

Thf/nin is still awesome for soloing. I have a duo buddy tho so I really haven't solo'd in a while.

RDM is probably the best solo job and you would need different subs for different situations and its sought after for merits and other group stuff. I like RDM as a form of main healing for my nyzul group. Bard is also still wanted but I don't think it does to well in solo situations.

bard cant solo worth crap. white mage and bard can survive pretty well, can toe-to-toe stuff for a good long time, but bard just cant do any damage to anything.. as of 05

Like Remey said, RDM is probably the best at what you want Koda (solo, popular job in parties/events, moderately fun).

Hey now, hold up!

BRD can solo. Excruciatingly slow but as long it sleeps (and can be elegied), you can kill it!

And if you're in full errant, swinging an elemental stave, of course you're not going to do any damage. Be fair now, I don't think any job class will do any damage trying to melee in chr gear and wailing around a light/apollo staff. Set up in proper melee gear, my brd packs a bit of punch.

white mage could beat even match at 75 in about 3 minutes. bard..at least for me..i'd get about halfway through it after 10 minutes and give up. lol

I bet you were swinging a staff and in errant/chr gear with whm sub yeah?

I am able to solo VT (and depending on mob type, IT mobs as well) mobs on my brd, even Lamia Idolaters (not the blm ones, though), which I can't lullaby.

Takes me 20+ minutes though on Lamia idolaters, though it's usually edge of my seat.

Other VT mobs tend to hang around 15 minutes for kill. I'm usually BRD/NIN when I do that though.

blu/nin was a fucking blast to solo with.

you can do 10-12k an hour soloing vt imps out in caedarva mire, as for NM's it's fairly decent too, i'll never forget the time i tried to solo adamantoise with blu hahaha

It's much, much better to be main handing a dagger over Joyeuse on BRD (something like a blau dolch). With nin sub, dualing daggers is the far better option over dagger/joyeuse or joyeuse/dagger against anything above T. Joyeuse only on offhand on things with low evasion and/or pierce damage bonus on them. Anyway, totally hi-jacking Koda's thread.
