As some of you may know last week I quit FFXI. I’ve played maybe 1 hour total in the last week just loggin on and off to sell all my gear, clean up mules, etc.

Well today I was extremely bored. I thought WoW open beta would start this week, but it looks like that wont happen until next week. I started to get the FFXI itch.

Monk is by far my favorite job. I have a ton of fun when I play it. Since I now have around 7 million gil after selling all my stuff, I thought It would be fun to play an uber monk for a week or so until WoW started, using all the kickass gear like Cross Counters, Brown Belt, Snipers, Ochiudo’s Kote, etc.

I log in, buy some gear, put flag up and 10 seconds later I have a PT invite. (All right!)

After 1.5 hours in the PT I gained a total of 965 exp. Ran from 100 trains in Garliage. PT split up, had a grande ol’ time.

Since then I’ve been sitting in mog house for 3 hours with thumb up ass not able to find a PT.

That brings me to my point. Why do I hate FFXI? BECAUSE YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING IN THIS GAME WITHOUT 5 HOURS OF WAITING OR DEALING WITH 5 OTHER MORONS.

Now I understand this is a multiplayer game, and that the whole point is playing with other people, but giving only ONE job the option to solo, and FORCE everyone else to sit around in mog house PRAYING that they get lucky enough to get the chance to play and advance their character today is just piss poor game design.

There are plenty of things in this game to encourage making PT’s and playing with other people. BCNM, Missions, Quests, NM, HNM. Forcing people to group so they can get XP is just retarded. My enjoyment level should not be tied to other players. Grouping should be a CHOICE.

WoW might not be the second coming of Jesus, but I think it will be a good game, if only for the fact that *IF* I CHOOSE, I can solo all the way to L60 no matter what class I’m playing. And I’ll never have to think to myself, “will I get lucky and be able to play tonight?” when I’m logging in.

Well, you HAVE done everything the game has to offer, but that doesn't mean that there won't be future enhancements. So, if you're sick of FFXI, you should at least reactivate your account every 3 months or so.


If you get the "itch," just restart it and play till you get sick of it again.
I'd miss your pancake screenshots :)

yea thats the exact reason i quit the first time, when i was stuck at level 67 for 3 weeks. then i quit for 5 weeks so i was stuck at 67 two freakin months. it sukt. (i was 63 in february but still 67 in mid june--so many days of 8 hours of zero exp even if i tried the whole time) but yea Squeenix should make the party-finding application more user-friendly. like:

show every job level each person has.
WHISP
75 WHM
47 BRD lfg
40 BLM lfg
25 THF
20 SMN lfg

show parties that are already formed, or portions of parties.
Party 1.
Shiloh-PLD/WAR
Yarr-WHM/SMN
Mikey-BLM/RDM

Seriously, take Monk prejiduce and multiply it by a million.
I guess coming from being a BLM, it was hard for me to adjust.

Taru mnk own. In my 32 lvls of playing it i've outdmged everyone in my PT 95% of time. Even most rng's and blm.

But you're right. there is alot of taru mnk h8.

Thats why my melee jobs never got very hard, after being a Bard looking for group just stinks.

I had some all day LFG sessions but those were mostly during times of day where nobody played so not me being unwanted.

Also once you have a 75 job and could be doing lvl 75 things you don't really want to sit around doing the lvl 40 LFG stints,

I'm 61 taru monk... Sorry to say, they suck compare to other races like Elvan Monk thats the same lvl as you and wearing the same equipments. After about lvl 45-50 you will notice a huge difference in dmg. Plus when u do get hate, your life goes down like nothing, on the contrary, an elvan and Galka can take more hits......

And no, my mnk equipments are pretty expensive too... crosscounter, spectacles, sniper rings. brownbelt, Vit +2 cape........

But besides that, your equipments and your skill do make up for it.

After lvl 40 I tend to make my party mostly. This ensures that I have a atleast decent party, or I dont' have to wait like 2 years for an ok party.

Well yeah, if you take a taru mnk, and a elvan mnk, same lvl, same equipment, elvan will win.. but taru are not that bad. lol

Oh well. The FFXI itch is gone.. 7+ hrs looking for PT today.. reminded me why I hate this game. mnk gear back on AH ;)

lol, i saw you in garliage Spork, shame i was just leaving my party we were getting 3kxp/hr not bad at lvl 33.

i was going back past garliage about 15mins later and i saw some1 shout saying dotn enter garliage for 10mins, big trian in there, i laughed and nearly made the pt turn round to help cause i feel sorry for things like that these days.

oh well, i have to admit once wow comes out i will have to make a choice between the 2 games(cant play both). WoW is looking very good these days compared to a year ago when i last looked just before buying FFXI.

yea i know and hopefully the open beta will help alot with how i spend my time for the next year :)

afterall WoW requires you logout every few hours and let your char 'rest' so this time could be used playing FFXI :)

WoW plans to release on Nov. 15 as the latest news. Blizzard has been pretty good on their release dates. So I won't be surprised if they really make it.

It took them about a year or more to release A PATCH. Blizzard is good on dates like a woman saying she'll call me tomorrow..

Unless a kidney fails her or something and/or she asked me my blood type..
