I'm 15 fishing and I'm currently skilling up woodworking with broken clothespoles but I'm having trouble breaking them...

I know that the ship is a good place to break rods but what bait should a level 15 fisher use to break his poles? I've tried Sliced Cod, Meat Balls, Lugworms, insect balls, sliced sardines and Rogue Rig so far...but without any luck. I always (well, 95% of the time) get the 'Nothing fished' message.

Can anyone help me out? Is there somewhere else I should try breaking my rods, is there someother bait I should use?

Guess it can't hurt to ask too...anyone who has broken clothespoles and is feelin' kind, please send em to Rahsten! I'll send em back repaired...or if you want to just sell em to me I'd probably be interested in buying them too.

I am currently breaking them with sliced bluetail, on a full moon I can break 7 or more rods per ride when I get lucky. With 15 fishing skill I figure it would be slower though, because most of the break fish are level 70-100, so they will bite very slow.

At lvl 46 fishing I got exactly 1 bite in an entire ferry trip with sliced bluetail while trying to break composites, so I don't recommend it for level 15 fishing.

You can try sliced sardine, since you should have a decent, though not spectacular bite rate on Gugru Tuna with it (skill 26-41). With sardine I get constant bites, and average 1 broken rod per trip.

You don't want to use your rigs, since broken rod = lost rig.

What I've been doing is buying rods for my fisher friends and dragging them onto the ferry to fish with me for more breaks per trip. The current rodbreaking recordholder was using peeled lobster as bait at lvl 67-70 fishing skill. He was breaking 3-4 rods per ferry trip quite easily.
