Post subject:  Almost done busting clotepoles...what next?

Hello,

Thanks to those of you who helped me with the busting of the clothespoles. Sliced Sardines worked great and I even managed to get 8 levels of fishing.

I still have about 2 levels til clothespole repair caps so I'm nearing the end of this long and dull period of woodworking. The popular alternative for skillup after 73 appears to be repairing Lu Shangs...unfortunately, a) I don't have the gil to buy a Lu Shangs(and I dont like fishing enough to get 10,000 moat carps) and b)I dont think I have the fishing skill high enough to break Lu Shangs anyways. My fishing Skill is lvl 23.

I looked at elemental Staves as a means of skillup to 75 but the amount of gil you have to put out for that is ridiculous for just ONE synth...and unless you HQ(which is doubtful) failures and success both result in large losses on our server. Investing in Lu shangs and countless days of leveling fishing seems more viable than skilling up on Staves...

So, to cut to the chase...has anyone taken another route other than Lu Shang repair to get to Lvl 80 woodwork? If so, what did you do? I have a budget of about 1 million gil at the moment, what synths should I invest that into to get to 80?

But, if anyone does have broken Lu Shangs and needs it repaired and can't do it themselves please contact me in game^^ I will repair them free of charge and use my own crystals of course. I am even willing to stand next to you as you fish...just so I can repair your Lu shang.

Anyways, thanks to all who can help.

Rahsten

Couldn't you repair other people's Lu Shangs, like from your LS?

Btw, tell Hale to hurry up and get his Lu Shangs :)

Yeah, Hale helped me a lot with the clothespoles busting but he's a long ways off from getting a Lu Shangs. We are currently trying to convince Sidious to buy one and loan us to help out here.

Another alternative was suggested to me also. Synth clothespoles (77 cap) and sell them broken to reduce losses. I estimate I'd still lose about 40-50 k every 12 synths, but I guess I could farm my own silk and log my own mahogany to help out there.

I'll look into Mithran rods though.

Yeah...there's actually 2 members in our LS that bought gil. When I found out I wasn't so thrilled...I actually told off one of em when I found out but then felt bad cause the guys actually a pretty good in game friend. I was surprised cause I didn't expect anyone in our LS to actually sink to that level...but what can I do about it, at least it's their parents money and not mine:shock:. Nonetheless our richest LS members all make their money the honest way.

Wasnt me, I not buy gil but I do know who did
but think of this, most gilsellers are poor irl, no jobs there etc....so they do low things, I dont support them but I dont hate them (only gilselling botters who are like 70% of them :( ) but I do like the people that actually farm as example silk they do it the right way, buying gil isnt good but look at all those high prices I am an elvaan smn now at lvl 10 and I cant afford astral rings what totally sux. When I have astral rings the PT notice it as well because they have less downtime so faster exp, this is why I dont understand why alot of items are overpriced also example ochiudo's kote when a mnk/sam/nin has these they do higher damage so faster exp so better PT but they are freaking 800K :x :x
This is my opinion on it so please dont shout at me or whatever cuz you might have another opinion, please

I have a Lu Shang's rod, you can borrow it for skilling up wood whenever I'm not using it. Just remember do not synth after you see the "Nearing Mhuara or Selbina" message, if you synth while ferry zoning, my precious will be lost.

Hey thanks a lot Pirato^^ Do you know what level fishing is required to break Lu Shangs on the ferry? I'm at 24 and can regularly break clothespoles on the Tunas now. I may just go the Clothespole synth path to 77 and then start breaking Mithrans(83), but if you dont mind loaning me your Lu Shang I wouldn't mind giving that a whirl...it would be a lot better than losing about 50k per 12 clothepole synths...

Just use whatever ammo you use to break clothespole. Tuna, Marlin, Titantictus and Sea Zombie like to break Shang. At 24 you should be able to get most of them to bite, although slower than a high level fisher. If you plan to go to the ferry, just ask me and if I'm not using it at that moment you can have it as long as you return it each time you're done.
