Post subject:  Ifrit Pride... What do you think about our Server?
I was reading Pix's post in the Screen Shots forum. I know many mis-read the SS and thought that the guy(or girl) threw a temper tantrum and threw away all that stuff that we would kill for. Even tho that wasn't the case, I noticed how easy NA's have on other servers. I am proud to on Ifrit, an elite JP server (one of the oldest servers). While we have problems with HNMs that drop Rare/Ex items, other servers are having trouble with buying normal items. Since we are on a JP Elite server, we have multiple ppl that have had Lv. 100 crafts. The more high level craft people, the more competition and as a direct result, lower prices. Other servers are having to pay double what we pay for...

I think that if we were on any other server, it would be too easy and too boring. We work hard for what we do. On other servers, every NA MNK has a Blk Belt when they hit 70. Now I agree, 1 MNK (Kayne) after the game has been out for 1 yr and a half is ridiculous, but I rather only 1 NA MNK have one, than 300+ with one. It makes the reward so much sweeter. If we were any other server, Kayne would have had his Blk Belt as soon as he hit 70 and it wouldn't have been a big deal at all. Beating out the JPs on the kings is so much sweeter when u have to actually work for it.

If we were any other server, we would be the cream of the crop, the top dogs, the sulton of swat. (Haha u get my point.) A lot of NAs on other servers wouldn't last a week on Ifrit, they rather have everything handed to them. No challenge, No fun!

I love my server and wouldn't have change servers for anything.

What do you guys like about our server?

I think that theres just too much of a challlenge to compete with people like KFC who view FFXI as a job and often set their alarm to wake up for HNMs. I mean im not about to change the way I sleep for a game.

However, when we do manage to fight one of the kings, its a huge deal. Not like KFC who does it 2-3 times a week.

Its a big rush and the pay off is huge. Over all I think its the reason alot of us stick around.

my sleep has been screwed i wake up at 5 and am tired by 9 @_@ but thats also cause i entered the gifted program in a new school so my bus ride is like 2 hours there and back

but i still love ifrit cause of all the interesting things that happen
yesterday i was killed by Cancer (NM crab) in kuftal and the party that claimed it got MPK'd and i didnt get much exp :D

speaking from a mnks perspective, this server is ridiculous

on other servers, i have only heard of 6 mnks that have black belt, not 300+

the gods are still not easy to kill for most NA ls's whether you get the claim or not

i don't even go camp HNMs any more because you can't get the claim 95% of the time

to me, that other 5% is not nearly worth my time and effort

lol. hehehehehe I was in the "gifted" program for a few years until i realized i needed some core studies to go to college :(

Ifrit..hmm i was on Remora for a while and you cant really compare Servers only way is Gil seller wise cause there will always be Asses and peeople who enjoy the game and let other enjoy the game ...so i cant really compare i can relate to Van about the Black Belt Thing it is incredibly tough to get but if you really wnted it that bad then youd get it...saying that your not Changing the way you sleep just means that they wanted it that 5% more and its why they got it (not trying to argue or anything just my thought)

honestly i'd rather have kfc to compete against over nidhogg just sitting there waiting for us. having to try hard as hell to get the stuff you want makes the game that much more enjoyable, and the reward feels alot better when you finally get it.

Meh, I have my shares of ups and downs with the server.

Of course there are people I wish would leave. Hell, I'm sure there are people who want me to leave. With end game stuff, yeah I hate going to a 3 hour voke contest only to lose but at least ls's don't MPK each other back and forth on this server like they do on others. That's one plus side.

Interesting question...not sure how to respond because this is my first ever MMORPG and Ifrit is the only server I've been on.

I agree that the competition makes the prize more valuable...but it also keeps people from experiencing some things that they want to do, because for some things the competition is just too one-sided.

I also think that the fact that the population is maturing level-wise has some interesting dynamics that we are only beginning to see the impacts of....so many LS's in Sky for god items, so many camping HNMs etc. The demographics are definitely changing.

I often wonder about the whole JP-onry drama. I have a lot of Japanese player friends and I'm glad to have had the experience of getting to know them and learn from them and learn about their gaming culture. But I think it would be an interesting experiment if SE had an option of NA only or JP only servers.

Generally, I like Ifrit a great deal....mostly because I enjoy hanging out with all of you! (Hiya Valisk ^^)

i played on Fairy for a while.... nearly 4000 people loged in at one time.... hehe and its ture super duper uber duber people here come dime a dozen on fairy....

With my brief experience on Hades, Its definitely true that getting an awesome item on Ifrit is definitely way more rewarding and looked up to. On hades pretty much every lvl 75 NA i saw, for example ninja, would have a fucking speed belt, and every monk had a black belt, and there were just soooo many people with pretty much every "hard to get item" on ifrit.

sure, spending 10 months for an item is great isn't it?

ehh... personally i know of a lot of things that you can do in 10 months irl 0.o

to me, id rather get the HNM every single day than never ever get it

if i got the HNM every single day on another server id be much more happy than on ifrit where you *might* get the hnm once every couple weeks
