wow... That kinda stuff really bugs me. It just ruins the game for a lot of people, because gil isn't always easy to come by, and some people may have spent a lot of time saving up for such items... Or even time spent camping a NM. ![]() |

Lol, that guy/gal is pretty screwed now. This sort of stuff spreads very fast, especially if people make a song & dance about it in Jeuno, because it spreads onto every LS within range at high speeds. I can't quite remember which of our "thieves" on our server it was that got the messageboard treatment, but i remember partying with the victim (i cant remember their name, honest, lol) and they said the person had been sending tells promising to pay the money back bcause "this sux, i cant do anything now". Reputation means a lot, people seem to think their Anonimity will save them somehow.PS: I'm still looking for that BBS, but I can't read JP so it will be hard. |

Its a cultural difference tal. The Japanese people are alot more respecful and stuff like this didnt happen between Japanese players. From what i hear japanese people always would lend out items to group members if it helped XP. |

That's gotta be the sickest I've ever heard of in a game. Kujata must be a warzone because of this. ![]() |

The one good thing out of this... is how well people are teaming up against him..... Both JPN and ENG players pretty much hate him. And it is pretty sad that people take advantage of other's people's trust. oh and talisin, yarr is right.... back when I used to lvl BLM during JPN times, I'd be lent equip from time to time, usually an ice staff. (Back then Ice staff's were 1mil+ items). Also, one time during ZM6, i was lent 2 diamond rings to attempt to increase my chances of sleeping the mobs...needless to say it didnt work, I just needed a lvl or 2 to raise my enfeeble skill. But yeah, JPN tend to be more trustful, maybe not because of the culture, but the fact that all the "bad" players left after several months. (After 1 year of a MMORPG, I can assume just the dedicated players are left.) |

I like S-E's cruel method of handling this. |
Author: | Milamber [ Fri Jul 16, 2004 3:27 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
I think SE's way of handling it is flat out sh*tty. Yeah, I can see the argument that you shouldn't lend out expensive equipment, but some people are simply too nice. Does this mean they should have no defense? It's horrible that the person who takes the gear without returning it never gets reprimanded, but when the people retaliate, they do get in trouble. These people are supposed to just lay down and take it? No way. That's crazy. They get in trouble for spamming, shouting slanders, etc. Under the rules of SE, what the hell are they supposed to do? I'm sure SE will say something to these people as well. SE defends the people with no morals. It's a very sad thing ![]() |

I think the GM power was set in such a way that doesn't give GM the too much power. If they start changing and giving more power too GM's, i'll refer to the infamous incident where someone was essentially jailed for reporting a bug. In fact, within the laws and rules that S-E has set, this is most likely the only way they can deal with this incident without going over. The message that they are sending is likely they dont' approve but what was done was legal within their rules of player 2 player trading. |

This is a common and low level of griefing. Its clear no one has done it to the japanese before since its so easy to pull off. GMs cant do anything because everything went accourding to the rules. If the player lies and doesnt return the item theres nothing the GM can do. Both players hit Accept and theres just no way to get around it. Im sure if he keeps doing it (not that he can since everyone knows him) im sure square would step in. |

I think I remember someone trying to pull this same sort of thing in Ifrit. I remember sitting in Lower Jeuno and I hear a shout, "If you ever get an offer to buy leaping boots for X price, refuse because he trades you some crappy boots without you even realizing!" People are fuckasses~ Peace. |
Author: | Vurin [ Fri Jul 16, 2004 8:58 pm ] |

Yeah I remember that guy. Offering to sell boots for cheap. He'd put leaping boots in window you'd put cash. he'd cancel and say oops you'd trade again and he'd put in lizard skin boots and you'd put cash without even checking to see they boots are the same. |

People like that deserve to die irl. Even though everyone teamed up against dokaka/dodger, in reality both got away with it, and both have new characters that they are set and wont ever need to make money for, and wont have the bad rep to follow. I just hope that karma gets the best of them.. |

i remember 'cylon' doing the leapin boots thing to 'pyromaniacnub' pyro tried to con cylon by saying that leapin boots are low lvl equipment and not worth much but he will pay 50k to buy it off him. cylon just went along and said ok but traded a lizard boots to him instead. that was the best, a DOUBLE CROSS. i love it. |

This reminds me of the time when I was scammed out of 150K for Leaping Lizzie Boots from Keroth(aka Heroth aka Yawn), about a month ago. I'm glad that I got over it quickly, but that only happened b/c of the support i received from the amazing people in Ifrit Server. ![]() Much love always and hope we don't see more that around. Btw, posting on forums, about such ppl, IS useful for 2 reasons: 1) The more ppl know who and how it happened, the better 2) That person's reputation goes down and "things" start to happen to them (i.e. Scammer: /sh lfg Please Invite ... Rest of the zone: /sh delete key character!) |
