Post subject: | Why I'm probably quitting |
I took a couple days off the game because I thought I was burned out, and I realized how the game really isn't fun for me anymore. Here are my reasons: 1. COP sucks - If you have SEA, go @#$@ yourself seriously, as you probably had to exploit the pt system to do it; i.e everyone going as /nin or nothing but smn or rng ect bullshit. Most of the BC's are so damn hard, and with one mistake, you gotta start all over again. 2. No solo play - Seriously, this one has been bugging me ever since I started playing in oct 2003. Why must I have at least 3 hours to play, so then I form a pt (not as bad for me as the people who lfg for 6 hours, wtf is that, and you call that a "game") in get to an exp spot in about 1:30, spend another 1:30 exping and log off. And dont tell me about soloing anything at high level, because as a mage, it takes nearly your entire mp pool to take ONE mob that cons as EP, or maybe D.c, or if your melee, then you simply sub nin and blink hits and pay out of the ass to solo shit. 3. JP - I never thought I could hate these bastards as much as I do now. And irl i'm a very tolerant person, I never have anything against anyone, and I give my respect to others openly until I find reason they don't deserve it. The JP ONRY comments have finally gotten to me, and I admit i'm fucking bitter. Don't give me any shit that they can't understand what I'm saying, auto-translator works for nearly anything that you might need to say concerning strategy for exp pts. Its simple enough to do a member search for a jp and go "oh ok". The fact that they think they own this game adds to my frustration. 4. HNMs - First off, 21-24 hour spawns, where you have 100+ people in a zone camping it. The jp ruin this especially. If they made everything a force pop, I might understand. SE's design of this is horrible. 5. LS drama - When our own NA ls's can't get along, you know there are serious problems. Its even worse when you have people getting kicked from ls for no reason. You know who you are, and you know who i'm speaking about. So there you go folks. Unless I have a serious change of heart, which I doubt, I will be soon selling my account, because I want money for the fucking wasted time of my life that I put into this so called "game". For those of you that know me or have been friends with me, I will definitely miss you. |

sorry to hear you're going through a tough time treets. I myself have struggled and still struggle to this day with whether or not I want to just say fuckitt and quit for good, as of yet I still have a few things I want to accomplish, a few people i want to see quit before i do, and a few people who i could never leave and will prolly honestly play until they quit, despite how hard my luck gets. we all go through rough and emotional times, in the game and in real life, it's important at these times to focus on the things that make you happy and stick to those, when this game frustrates the shit out of me, i will oftentimes go and lvl lowbie jobs because most of the time dealing with ignorant newbs is a helluva lot easier than dealing with some of the greedy elitist fuckers that grace our server like they're the second coming of jesus. it seems that taking a break hasn't worked for you, as it hardly ever does for me either, but I'm a pretty extreme guy and tend to give anything i'm determined to do 110% or just not try or quit outright. Whatever you decide I wish you luck, and if you're really thinking about quitting, i would suggest holding on to your character, because you never know when you might get the bug to come back. it's better to be safe than sorry. |

Hey treet, I've manaburned with you before and you are a pretty cool guy. Don't let the tough times get you down, and at least hang onto your char while you take a break. HNM LS drama and JP elitism are both things that make my blood boil but there's nothing more disappointing than seeing a good player leave because of it. :-( |

Don't sell or delete your account ![]() After the latest update I was considering coming back so I contacted my best old gane friends and they really wanted me back. I called POL earlier this week and found I can't get Kluya back...and it's fuking killing me. Luckily an rl friend that started with me doesn't want to play anymore and is letting me use his character...but still I would kill to have Kluya back. If there is anything I ever regret doing in this game it's character deletion. I guess my point is...no matter how mad you are at the game there is still a big chance you may want to come back. Don't sell or delete your account. Worst thing you should do is cancel the content ID and just reactivate it later if you ever feel like playing again. I'm just trying to give you the same advice my friends gave me when I spazzed out and deleted Kluya. I'm sick of hearing the "I told ya so" from so many people now... Good luck with whatever you do ![]() |

I just changed my mind actually. Doesn't change the fact that I still hate these things about the game, but I put in ALOT of effort into this game, and I don't want to just throw that all away. |

Me = Dark Knight You = Black Mage You are FAR more useful in every single CoP mission than me (with the exception of Diabolos fight), but I'm gettin' close to sea. Yeah, they're hard, but the challenge is part of the fun...do some research, find some guys you trust, and spend some gil. You'll get there. ^^ Eh, now that I read that, it sounds really condescending. Forget it. Just don't quit. ^^ |

Did you see video with a blm soloing KS30 scorpion? Dunno, not everything can be done solo, but there is still a lot that can be soloed. Quote: 4. There is 3 nm like that, and they fixed it last week. Everybody have an equal chance at time atm Anyway, Im not trying to pretend this game doesnt suck...it's still a big waste of time. >_> |

Well, good to see you stay tree. The advice i'd give tho.. is really, there is very little in this game worth getting angry about. Don't let it stress you out. You're supposed to be playing the game, don't let the game play you. Take little to heart, and keep even less on ur mind. |

Well yeah, anything in the game is easy when you have the "perfect setup" Try beating Ultima/Omega BC with PLD, DRK, RNG, MNK, WHM, BRD. I dare ya. |

lol I think if you quit FFXI but still read forums and such, there is like a 90% chance of return. Almost everybody does eventually. I couldn't agree more with this statement. If you quit FFXI, erase it from your mind and never read about it or talk about it or you will likely come back. Hell my friend that gave me his character quit about 4 months ago. He recently asked me how things were going with the game...I told him, and it made him want to come back >_>. |

I rarely play ffxi and i still come here to read the idiotic/funny/interesting thoughs other people have to share. It happened to me, but most people who quit the game for a specific reason, like some RL issues or realistic things will most likely only come back if these issues are resolved. Do i want to play FFXI? Of course... Its fun, but i cant mostly because there are better things to do. When i dont have anything to do, i play Kioto on the weekends, but it has only happened once or twice since i quit. I also have another character, but i rarely play on that, only when i have nothing better to do. |

When someone annoys you in game there is a simple solution in the form of MPK. I am a rather vengeful person who likes to take down names of those who annoy me. I check those names randomly in hopes they are near me as I go about my travels. If so I decided to kill them repeatidly. It's great if they have a WHM friend because I can go for their safety net too. Sure, some say the whm is innocent, but I harbor natural hate for whm after seeing a 75 whm do /slap to me when someone asked for them to raise me in the dunes. So in conclusion kill everyone else, and you'll feel better. Wait... that just doesn't sound right... Did I mention I like to ramble on long beyond where the point has been made? MPKing parties = fun+1 MPKIng that causes loss of level = fun+2 |
