im playing multi right now but i think i gotta use directx7 mode because directx9 mode is lagging like crazy even on an athlon 64 3400+ with 2 gigs of ram and a radeon x850xtpe 256mb card

going to see if turning off AA helps first then im just gonna switch to dx7 mode since that made a big difference in the demo

it's the game engine :P HL2 uses the same things CoD2 does but I got 90+ FPS almost everywhere in that game with maxed settings

anyway CoD2 overuses the bumpmapping and makes the characters look retarded in DirectX9 mode so I'm just using DirectX7 which looks just as good IMO and runs damn fast

One of that bad points about the game thats mentioned in every review is that the game could run a little smoother, but it runs good overall. And yes matti, Nvidia sucks

P4-3Ghz, 1 gb ram, ATI 9800 pro
And the demo ran horribly at 1024 X 768. (Minimum rez I can bear, heh)

I didn't know bout the DX7 mode, I'll have to red/l the demo and check it out.

Yeah it's bullshit though that you have to run it in DX7 mode with a $500 card, but whatever. I'd complain more if my FPS suddenly went to shit in FFXI with this system since I don't plan on playing CoD2 multiplayer for longer than a week before it gets boring.

As for the NVidia argument, there's people who are using 7800s and getting shitty FPS. Most of the people that are reporting smooth gameplay with those cards aren't bothering to change the video settings to the best they can be and just leaving them at default.
