The upcoming version update is scheduled to take place in late February. A new form of Conflict, as well as an additional area in each of the regions of Dynamis, Temenos, and Apollyon will become accessible to the adventuring population. And don't forget the usual plethora of new quests and improvements to all aspects of the game.

The previously announced Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion disc and the Xbox 360 Beta Test are both progressing on schedule. Keep an eye out for the latest developments!

FINAL FANTASY XI Development Team (01/24/2006)

Bear in mind that says "Form of Conflict", not a new area or addition to Ballista. Ballista was just one of the forms of Conflict, a training game used by the San d'Orians.

Also I wonder how adding new Temenos/Apollyon will affect how many chips you need to fight Ultima/Omega?

I heard that some JP has a map that's the 5th floor of Temenos (one higher than Ultima).

Author:  Ketrebu [ Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:23 am ]
Post subject:

I think they're going to make it so Ultima/Omega drop an extra chip once you kill them, and you can use the chip to enter a "Final" floor, which drops lots and lots and lots of coins.

It would solve all the "We don't wanna kill Ultima/Omega cuz we get no coins." problem. Omega gear can only even be worn by 3 jobs, call it a reward for the other 12 jobs.

Post subject:

That would be the logical reasoning someone normal would do, not SquareEnix  It will probably drop a new set of average item, after an extremly hard boss battle.

I wonder if Seltheius could be a new boss. Or maybe a fusion of Omega and ultima.

And I bet the new kind of conflict will involve clamming and mpk in Purgonos Island.

Post subject:

Screw the clamming. I want MPK back. Well I hope the new Conflict PVP game is interesting. Probably CTF or something lame like that. I would rather have something be every man for himself instead of having sides. A dueling option like in WoW would be hot as well. Everyone flag PvP in Dragon's Aery ftw. We can all pvp over Fafhogg spawn. Losers get to HP and the winners get to claim.

lol, then it'd be a whole linkshell war at all the really good pops and it'd be so laggy there would be so many people that only the JP players would be able to kill anyone. You'd go in, everyone would pop on screen, lag slows down a bit and you see a JP elvaan tea bagging you.. that or you go as pld and keep pressing cure on yourself and maybe another JP will take that one out.

meh, Eternus means he wants it back for inside the LS and RMT. I mean, I think I speak for the whole LS when I say this, Ilm is a different person now, and I am scared of what might happen. And fuck, Kaylia quit (even just temp)....without MPK those two are bored, and it scares me

I was joking assclowns. I guess since that wasn't portrayed well enough through the use of text. I think the MPK patch was a good thing really. I was joking about the Fafnir thing.. I was making a joke that refers to another MMO but whatever.

MPK within the LS is funny, although some people don't like it and get pissed because they value their xp buffers. MPKing RMT is fun, but they usually start the MPK haha. Bleh this causes GMs to be called less and now they have more time to do their actual jobs.

well... the new stacking stuff is going to make alot of happy RNGs

just carry around a stack of ingredients and that's what? 33 stacks of bolts/arrows non-HQ?

Post subject:

Hot shit. Ammo prices should drop due to this (i mean, come on. 6-8k for a stack of acid bolts?)

Now if only SE would allows people to make their own quivers instead of having to go to an NPC.

Post subject:

Kinda cool but still lame. I carry 2 stacks of Bloody and Sleep bolt heads, 1 stack of acid, and lot of lumber. Now I only have to take 1 stack of each but they didn't say anything about making Ash Lumber stack to 99 as well...

Ammo prices: down, Earth crystals: holy crap up!

needing 8+ stacks of crystals to go through 1 stack of ingredients is gonna be brutal >.<

guess I should go get a few more jeuno mules as i'm gonna have to really mass produce arrows to get any money out of it now -_-; oh well

Take a look at the exciting new content scheduled for the upcoming version update.

- The Sequel to "Storms of Fate"

The quest "Storms of Fate," which brought players into direct conflict with the mighty Bahamut, was introduced in the December 2005 version update. This February, prepare for the next chapter in this epic story with a new quest to challenge the most powerful of adventurers.

*The Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia expansion discs must be installed and registered in order to undertake this quest. Certain storyline progression in both expansion discs is also required.

- Prime Avatar Battles

Up until now, there have been other quests that allowed players to test themselves in battle against the prime avatars. In this new quest, however, the protectors of the protocrystals will be stronger than ever before, requiring adventurers to rethink old strategies.

This quest will allow a maximum of 18 people to take the field against these more powerful manifestations of the avatars.

Quests that hint at adventures to come, as well as many other additions, await you in the February version update.

Alot of these new quests, like Limbus, for example hint at upcoming plot points for Aht Urghan. Talk about hype machine irl.
