ok, yesterday I had a really bad situation. I bought a Sairen. sure, it's great for NIN for a while but the thing is, I dont have a scorp harness for NIN(blah blah blah, it's overrated, but it's still useful). I basically promised myself to not level NIN again until I got a harness. [edit] I mention this cause it's what made me realize I can't decide what I want to level, I saw it on AH and bid on it for a nice undercut and when I got it I was like ". . . shit"[/edit]

now for my real dilemna: what job should I level? currently BRD50 BLM53 and NIN61, I love all three but SE sucks and I can't exp 3 jobs at once.

i never have and never will own a scorp harness. 1) xping all you need is haste to effictively 7 shadows in the time cycle allocated. brd makes it so you can sleep tanking literally. 2) evasion means absolute shit unless youre soling, and at 75 you want more DPS to outwiegh TP given to the mob. 3) HNM tanking as nin requires more enmity, and HNM rarely miss even when you have all evasion gear unless brd uses soul voice mambos, even then faster utsu timers is always better. id rather have 30sec Ni than the "chance" for a mob to miss me.

as a ninja i say fuck evasion, pile on stats that will increase DPS to hold hate over other melee. save tp to end asuran with jin to hold hate better. fuck scorp harness, wear AF1 body for faster attack rate (more DPS), util osode or even yasha (that has 4 enmity on it right there)

I agree with Xiona about ninja. Atk, acc and str gear all the way. Evasion is overated.


Don't go BLM, there is too many out there and job is boring. Brd is very useful and will get you party fast. Ninja is fine too if you want to solo for money later, but partying might be slower.

just beware the brd gap from 42-60 or w/e it is when rdms get refresh and until brd gets ballad II those lvls are a major pita... everyone wants refresh so they invite rdms neglecting the fact that brds still have acc and atk buffs. :shakes fist::

Level up bard and help me get to 75. But if you decide to go with ninja, everything Xiona said is right. Evasion is useless if you're not getting hit anyway, so the faster you can get your shadows up again the better, and it's always better if you're being attacked and not the whm.

Once you are a bard you are no longer a person. People won't even bother to use your name anymore. You're just an object.

People you think are friends really aren't, they're just looking to use your job class.

If there's another job that you truly love like your paladin you'll never see it again.

Sure, you can get in an hnml ls easily with it, get into a lot of events with it...but you have to ask yourself, "Am I really here becuase people respect me? Think I help? Think I'm a good player? Care about me at all, or am I just 'the bard' they refuse to play without."

More often than not I feel just like a tool, that I can't escape from without having to hurt or anger the people around me.

So yeah, if you want the easy road to instant affection bard is the ticket. But the affection isn't real, and the price will come to you eventually. Just be wary if its not something you really love and enjoy it might turn around and place you inbetween a rock and a hard place later on.

Let the EMO jokes begin :p

Here is the short answer,

BLM -

Cons- Too many are around. Too many are complete morons and have completely overcrowded endgame with their idiocy. The job is pretty fun for a while but when you reach 74-75 no one wants you in their parties _at all_, all you have is manaburn. Even though the AF2 isn't the greatest, be ready to go to Dynamis for months only to see every other job get at least one piece of gear per person while you blms fight like wolves when the one piece in a 6 month stretch drops and never again.

Pros- You almost always have a place in every endgame event. It's pretty rewarding to do awesome damage to big monsters. If you don't suck, you will be the mega boss of every ballista match. Mnks, Nins, Wars, and just about every other class will tireslessly bitch you out and try to kill you, but you have spells for every instance and should never die if you use your spells/abilities/mp right. Just watch out for smart Whms.

BRD -

Cons- You will never be able to play another job again. You will be harassed on an hourly basis for merits, general partying (before 75), or to replace RDMs in parties in bibiki bay. PLDs are your worst nightmare. If you thought BLM was boring, boy are you in for a treat with BRD - the only caster in FFXI where every spell sounds exactly the same.

Pros- You will always have a spot in a party. You can literally walk into parties naked and no one will say a word. You are very useful for just about every element and stage of this game. You can get away with telling the party that they are a bunch of fags, leave, and your reputation will not be affected since everyone wants your songs regardless of what kind of asshat you are.

NIN-

Cons- You are spending sooo much gd money. So.much.money. There's no way to reach into other peoples computers and bitch slap them for stacking all of their job abilities at once and weaponskilling at the start of battle (cough drk war mnk.. did I mention drk?).

Pros- You own PLDs in exp, and do pretty well against HNMs too. Highly desired job. You are easily one of the most overpowered jobs in this game. Other stuff that I can't mention cuz I really cannot think of anything (but only because I'm retarded, not because there is anything lacking).

I had fun writing this lol, but don't really take it seriously. I guess it wasn't such a short answer either. :oops:
