now what the fuck is SE thinking

Changes to Sending Gil

Limitations on sending gil have been put into effect with the February 21 version update.

-A cap of 1 million has been imposed on the amount of gil deliverable at one time.
-Gil can now be placed in only one of the eight available slots for delivery at a time.
These restrictions only apply to sending gil. No restrictions have been imposed on receiving gil.

The above measures were put in place to combat the trading of large amounts of gil for money in the real world (Real Money Trading, or RMT). Gil purchased by RMT is most often traded using the in-game delivery function, so limitations on sending gil were deemed an appropriate countermeasure.

The FINAL FANTASY XI development team considered informing players of this change in the Topics section before the version update. However, if players knew about the restrictions in advance, the market might have been flooded with RMT gil before the update, further exacerbating inflation. We decided that informing players of the changes at the same time as the version update would help keep the Vana'diel economy stable.

A tax on sending gil was among the measures considered, but the development team is still observing the effect of the RMT countermeasures implemented on February 9. Therefore, we determined that the best course of action for this update would be to simply impose a limit on the amount of gil deliverable at once.

We will continue to develop countermeasures against RMT and violations of the user agreement, and we would like to assure our players that all efforts are being made to ensure a fair playing experience.

We hope to have your continuing understanding and cooperation in creating a Vana'diel that everyone can enjoy.

I guess the major goal of it was to stop people like IGE sending over a ton of gil and stuff. I mean they can still do it but itll be a daunting task if someone buys 50 million gil haha

And brenner is only available at very limited times...wtf

Author:  Havok [ Mon Feb 20, 2006 12:30 pm ]
Post subject:

well it looks like brenner is only going to be in the one area...so they wanted to leave a lot of time slots open for reservation and only have limited official matches

and lol @ the gil sending thing haha. glad i have access to 2 accounts so i can just trade gil if i need.

Now when you talk to a guard about supply quests, the regions that you have already delivered supplies to will be marked with "(Done)." The quests are still repeatable if you have fulfilled the requirements for participation. However, changing your nationality will reset your progress record, and you will no longer be able to use regional teleportation. In order to utilize the teleportation service once again, you must receive and complete the supply quests from a guard in your new nation.

Why are they mentioning thing we know for years? They just added a short text for retard.

The scheduled recipe change for “Tavnazian tacos” mentioned in the February 2nd, 2006 Topics (FINAL FANTASY XI official homepage) will now take place in a later version update

Oh noes!

Man, Square are really slacking. that patch has almost nothing beside Dyn-Tav, but I bet that one is ready for more than a year.

I think the major thing they are mentioning is the (DONE) option.
This is very useful when you change nations since its is easy to confuse which outposts you have done already in one nation from another.

For the Gil patch. I think it is gonna hurt the RMT more than it hurts us. While I doubt it will take long for the RMT to require person to person trade or distributing money via bazaars....

Yes Mikey. I also think there is less content because they are saving everything for april, but what they give us is still pathetic. Beside, they will probably do like exactly like they did for promathia and release 1
"chapter" ever few month or so.

The gil thing is kinda annoying but I'm just relieved they didn't tax it. That would have been beyond lame and would have hurt innocent players.

It doesn't stop rmt gil trade but like sev said will be annoying for them if you have a large order. The realwinner is se when ige has to buy more accounts to send gil over. Lol

The wyrm sleep thing is interesting. I think its largely targetted towards fafhogg. Would be nice to see smn nerfed against joutm vtra and tiamat. I love smn but would be nice to see more variety of jobs and groups fight them.

This hurts the "more varied groups" that try it more than summoners, even tho sleeping it is kinda lame way to deal with stuff, it's the best way to get everyone recovered/ready to take on the last 10% or whatever. It doesn't hurt summoner zerg at all which is the biggest issue with the CoP wyrms, at least on this server.

Kaylia might have been talking about the Ouryu BCNM "Ouryu Cometh", i think, where you take in an ally of 18 in an uncapped BC.

EDIT: too slow Kayne :P lol

I think Kaylia was talking about people sleeping/nuking Ouryu in the Cloud Evoker BC :P I haven't seen anyone beat that yet without doing a sleep -> nuke -> sleep -> nuke strat.
