any lvl really but it's better to focus on one job and one sub so you can make money easier and make more friends. |

At level 18 you can get the quest to equip a subjob, and at level 30 you can get the quests for advanced jobs like Paladin, Samurai, Blue mage, etc. Anything that's not one of the starting six. So if you want to play a different job than the one you started as, lv30 gives you every opportunity. |

just make sure that wyou dont screw yourself over and having to be a blm/war. lvl rdm or whm a little before you actualy get your subjob. that is if you plan on blm being your main job. |

uhm 20 sound good? i mean if you lvl it to like 19 now, your NEVER going to have to re-play the dunes again unless you decide you want to take on another job. (your going to hate the dunes) and keep in mind that ffxi has HUGE lvl grinds, i mean only jobs that ive experienced that lvl fast are mnk and brd. i wanted to get lvl 30 ASAP, so i started to lvl mnk at first. and i dont remember what happened exactly, but i ended up going blm and having a gimp sub all the way untill kazahm before anyone said anything. blm27/whm4 but that was a long time ago. nowadays you wont get invites if your sub is underlvld at all |

The most logical way imo would be to lvl you main til 18, switch to w/e your sub will be and lvl that to 37, then go back and lvl you main, you'll never have to look at your sub again. atleast until someone yells at you for having the wrong sub, which is bound to happen around lvls 50-60. |

Yea Hobbes, I really wish I had done that lol, the pain I put myself through levelling whm and rdm for subjobs when I could have done it all at the start when it was still fun. Also didn't mean to sound like an ass with that comment about people not caring, just that sometimes people might give you false info or something for a laugh, or even something that changed since they quit. You will probably enjoy ffxi just as much as any of us did when we first started, its gotten better and worse in lots of things so don't worry about people who say its shit/waste of time, they are just jaded after years of playing . |
