I'm saying its a possibilty that sony will do well next year. Even with the mounting massive losses that the ps3 is going to cause. The HDTV section of sony is doing better every quater, which is going to help pick up the slack. Also the movie department. Sony pictures, owns both the spiderman movies and resident evil movie francises. Spiderman has always been profitable for them, so i expect no less from them. And sony pictures second most profitable move is resident evil ( its sad but true lol ) That will bring in some more revenue to help ( not completely cover) the extreme losses the ps3 is expected to bring.

I thought all consoles when released were a initial loss for the company?

So they put an initial huge pricetag on them which is basically aimed just at those people who they know can not wait a minute longer than necessary to get the new console and will pay through the noise for that privelidge, then once sales start to drop (I'm thinking within about 10 hours lol) they slash the price to one more suited to casualler - is that even a word- gamers.

But even for someone like me who clearly is not paying all that much attention to the world of consoles because I can't afford any of them, the occasional glimpses of games I see for the wii and xbox360 look very good, wheras the ps3s only attraction for me will be mgs4 and future ff titles.

Hell even if I could afford one easily I probably would not buy a ps3 until the ff game for it is realeased lol. No doubt sony will be aware I'm not alone in this and will hike the price up in conjuction with SE or something.
