After viewing the trailer for the upcoming PS3 title by Level 5, I have to say that I'm thoroughly blown away. Being a huge fan of most titles by Level 5 (Dragon Quest VIII, Dark Cloud, and the upcoming Rogue Galaxy) it's pretty big news that a new title is coming out. The battle system seems to be turn based, with characters interacting and shouting to one another during the fights, and interacting with the enemies in rather unique ways. The main character also transforms into a very Escaflowne looking "White Knight" when faced with boss characters. The initial menus also remind me very much of Final Fantasy Tactics. I just hope the game will be available by the time I get a PS3. Haha. Which is probably two years from now. Or whenever I happen to win the lottery.

looking back on DQ8, i would say it is equal in quality to FF4 & FF6

that trailer was awesome up until it turned into some kind of transformers battle. the whole thing seems to be geared toward realism, they should've just left all the magical stuff out.

the trailer makes the game seemed really slow paced, but the story makes up for it

Looks pretty damn good to me, though the battle system will have to be played to see if I like it or not. RPGs are more fun if they are over the top and unrealistic in my opinion. Magic in itself and fantasy monsters aren't realistic anyway lol. Really I don't look for reality in my video games, they are more of an escape.

Looks great. I wonder if the shielding/parrying has any real-time aspect to it, that could be cool. It looks like they give the boss monster's name/description when he shows up like in Devil May Cry or Ocarina of Time. The White Knight mech looks sick, and yeah, total Escaflowne ripoff, but whatever. Escaflowne was cool. lol
