I played the demo and was skeptical because of all the gooey dreampop kiddie funland shit going on, but then, I felt the same way about the blue dragon demo, and i've been playing that like it's a second job (just got to 3rd disc last night, put in 45 hours so far (half of which were prolly me lolafking) so in your opion Klu, is eternal sonata better than blue dragon? Can it hold the interest of a 28 year old beer swilling drug addicted maniac? or will I want to claw out my eyeballs out because the game seriously looks like some nightmare combination of the wiggles, strawberry shortcaked, and final fantasy IX
If you don't find Blue Dragon painfully childish and don't claw your eyeballs out when Marumaru constantly spazzes out, or Kluke and Jiro constantly treat Shu like he's a 5 year old...you will be fine with Eternal Sonata. I wanted to kill every character in Blue Dragon lol. Blue Dragon's main flaw is it's too fucking easy! I seriously never died (wiped) once on that game, even to the super hard optional bosses (Gold Mecha Robo and Giant King Snake). My party whiped fighting the first boss on Eternal Sonata because I didn't fully understand the battle system haha. I haven't since then.
Don't get me wrong I still loved Blue Dragon , and I'll play it again some day. Blue Dragon is way more old school RPGish. I like how you can customize your characters abilities and it has a good job system. Also there is a world map, airship, blah blah. Eternal Sonata isn't like that.
I think it will hold your interest fine. It is very "cute" but in a less annoying way than Blue Dragon. I actually really like the cartoonish look and the character models. It looks amazing in HD. My roommate was watching me play it with his jaw dropped yesterday. It's a very bright and colorful game (like Blue Dragon). Enjoy that before the dark RPGs like Lost Oddysey come out!
