Kmart is selling ps3 40 gig models for 360 dollars.

I heard that certain PS3 models arent backwards compatible and the 40gig is one of them. Is that true?

60gigs are like, the holy grail at the moment for PS3s. You won't find one, but it's the ideal model to choose. Honestly, I'd just wait til the MGS4 bundle if you're in the market for one anyway, Dualshock 3, MGS4, 80gigs, some PS2 compatibility, etc.

The Gunmetal PS3 is ugly and I'm not even a huge fan of MGS. Guess I'll keep looking for a 60GB.

You won't find it in a store because it's a discontinued model, so you'll have to shell out a premium to buy it on E-bay most likely.
