Getting the Gamespot key in a few days and I'll be trying it out. Looks like total sheiss though

The classes and gameplay are (fairly) unique, and the concept of city-building intrigues me. It's really the second post-WoW MMO to break the clone mold, and more engaging to me than EVE.

Anyway I ap layed the beta briefly for a week or so.

Something about the mix of realtime combat a la DDO and the fact that its 12 fucking gigs and still ugly as sin ( some excuse about the high res textures being removed for beta) plus the quests being generally boring and everything just being uninteresting overall meant I couldn't really play it past lvl 10 or so.

This was about 6 months ago so it probably is much improved by now and its understandable to have flaws/bugs in beta but even the most polished areas ( i.e. the newbie introduction parts) were tolerable at best.

Basically I see it being similar to like the korean mmos in which potion use and consumables are essentially assumed to be chain consumed and with DDO's combat system except instead of feats and spamming right click you spam 1-3 in as you run around swining your boat oar like a madman. and if that sounds like your cup of tea it'll probably be fine, but those are two of my least favorite aspects of many mmos.

Supposedly this game is going to "Revolutionize" the battle systems for MMORPGs. I don't know what's supposed to be so great about it, but all the reviews and previews rave about it.

ive been playing the beta for about a week and a half now. i have to say the combat is alot of fun. its the total opposite of WoW or ffxi. there is no such thing as auto attacking at all. you have to swing your weapon and move your shield manually. the times of semiafking watching a movie while killing shit are not possible with AoC. ive played all the jobs but bear shaman and theyare all evenly balanced at this point in time.
its a fun game with definatly new concepts, the graphics are damn good if you have dx10. overall i think it will do well, many people are looking from a change of WoW style combat and pvp.

Recently reached lv20, and ehhh...

I don't know, but I'm not really that into it. It gives me the singleplayer RPG-feeling and I'm not big on paying a monthly fee for that.

That's because the first 20 levels are meant to be single player to evolve a storyline line, aka Destiny Quests.
