is this any good without buying from the shop?

i'm level 19 white mage already, i have solo'd to this point, and i hear that you usually start partying around level 24. i don't think there is a highest-level yet now but i know people are in the 50s.

The abilities and stuff remind me of Magic or ShadowRun, 2hours til download ends. No reason not to considering it's free. Meanwhile I'd really like to be a Holy Warrior (Paladin) but omg there's a job called Kahuna lol.

I actually play both Holy Knight (Lv23) and Kahuna (Lv15) on the Lyd(I forget the full name.. It's the L server.) With some of my original friends from FFXI/RL. It's fun for a free game. It has a bit of a Final Fantasy Tactics element in it since you've JP to level your jobs. Paladin doesn't seem to have many Self curing spells. Just one and it sucks so far >/ But they have lots of HP and hate taking moves so if you group it's fun to tank :D. Kahuna is very RDMish You don't have a straight cure spell but more of a quick regen spell, Some DOTs, Debuffs, and Buffs. Both're fun.

there is a quest, talk to gildas and he'll send you to deneb who will send you off to some beach, then you have to kill some monsters and return for the next job

On occasion I randomly get teleported back to Laksy, and when I say random I mean random. The loading screen just comes out of nowhere and poof /laksy, sucks a whole bunch because my computer can't handle that place at all.

I also can't figure out how to turn the camera.

My character has enough exp to be level 14 Holy Warrior but by my jp layout she's only Lv11 so far. This game reminds me of Summoner for the ps2, it's good. I don't know how anybody can be crazyass hardcore into it but it's definitely fun to log in and smash stuff for a while. I love having tons of abilities and crap to learn, kinda like FFT or FFX. I'm still shocked my computer can play it.

How is party play? I'm still beating the crap out of everything solo.

im at 22 and still not partied in a big party yet, just duo or trio. but that is fun. funner than solo.

I like the way the fighting looks. My lady is always twirling while she fights, kinda looks like she's just dancing and happens to be holding a hammer while she's at it (kinda like Black Halo club weapon skill in FFXI lol). The hits have nice explosion effects. The LevelUp animation can be seen from a mile away too, pretty cool. Really the only problem I have so far is that since it's downloaded and not solid, I can't keep a manual open with me til I'm ok with the controls, and I don't have windower. I have to write down how to send tells and stuff. lol
