Yeah I actualy like playing this game! I rented since I'm cheap but I'm on disc 3 now and I love the Cut scenes and the game pla si awesome. I love how you can take abilitys from items and other ppl. that pretty clever. Again I'll admit i'm not a huge RPGer so I don't know if it inntovative or not. I didn't like Jansen too much. I never use him really. One thing I have noticed is that either they have a ton of save points or none at all. I remeber I needed to get to bed for work and I kept dieing at this one spot and was getting pissed b/c it was either I just turn off the system and loose everything I did in the last 25-30 mins or play another 30 mins and get passed it and be up too late and die the next day at work.

But over all it's really good.
______________

oh yeah Ulgokiem I'm really glad I have a 360. I say 360 was the next system I enjoyed since Super NES.

Yeah i am in the crimson forest at the boss, I really like the camera angles in battle and its a simple and fun battle system. And I really do enjoy the cutscenes in games like MGS, Xenogears, Lost Odyssey when they are well done.

This game kicks ass. Restored my faith temporarily in turn based JRPGs.

I finally beat Lost Odyssey. It took me 65 hours (minimal idle time) to beat the game and do all the optional dungeons . The only things I didn't do were collect all the treasures, level to 99, max out the immortals, and finish the backyard fights. I was gonna sell this game after beating it, but I changed my mind. It was so good I know I'll play it again sometime.

The music during the last boss fight was so fucking cool! So were the cutscenes and the story. The whole last boss fight and ending rivals any Final Fantasy game IMO. Aside from the fact it was too easy haha. I was a tad overleveled and my immortals were still geared up from a harder optional boss fight (Temple of Enlightenment).

I've played a bit of it. I really really like the dream stories. I hope more games do something like that.

That threw me off as well. She is very pale and I guess they decided to make her skin almost transparent like most extremely pale people. Jansen doesn't seem to mind haha.

I think the game is pretty horrid IMO.

Doesn't try anything new. The story doesn't seem to draw me in. And the battle system is basic at best.

After playing the incredible Mass effect. I feel Jrpgs need to either start moving forward and come up with new ideas, or shrink into a niche market.
Lets face it JRPGs weren't all that great in the ps2 generation either.

I disliked ff12 attempt to emulate the battle system from 11. That just detached the player even further...

Mike you should send this thread to the creators of Mass Effect maybe they'll put you in the commmerical or something.. i dunno what it was, but i just didn't get into Mass Effect. I rented it and played it for about an hour and was like eff this... but i'm really not a fan of fps games (or spin-off wannabe fps games presented in some new format) unless they're either: amazingly beautiful graphics-wise or super tons of fun to play with friends. Mass Effect didn't really seem to offer either.

mass effect isn't a fps lol. that goes to show you how long you actually played/payed attention to it lol. I agree the way it introduced itself makes it rather hard to swallow. And the citadel you land on takes at least 5-6 hrs the first time you play to actually get out there and started on the action.

And about the playing with friends bit. Where on lost odd can you actually play the game with another person. Because if that were possible. I wouldn't have made the prior statement. Jrpgs need to have a multiplayer aspect to them. Freaken secret of mana did it on the snes making the game a freaken classic. Meanwhile over 10 years later no gaming company as of yet has created a game with that concept.

there's the problem. the beginning of mass effect is pretty boring, but the rest of the game more than makes up for it.

ahhh... i guess most rpgs are like that. I dunno it was just an annoying system to be thrown into with little to no info. It's true you can't play lost odyssey, but it wasn't an fps either. I guess neither is mass effect, but that's how it came off to me at first.
