something like this for me, a bit modified from traditional

Tanks

Basch (PLD): Heavy Armor, Mace, Bo, White Magic
Vaan (THF): Evasion, Dagger, Steal, Light Armor

Damage

Balthier (SAM): Spear, Bow, Steal
Penelo (BLM): Mage gear, Rod, All magics but lean towards black/dark

Support

Fran (RDM): Sword, All magics but lean towards green/time
Ashe (WHM): Staff, All magics but lean towards white

I'd usually pick Basch, Balthier, Fran OR Vaan, Penelo, Ashe and id spend most time controlling the guy who steals (Vaan or Balthier) but i could mix and match depending on the situation

Grabbed the Special Edition guide today!

opened all 12 up just to get the bunnygirlyay! I asked Snaake if he had a preference and he just said don't get the boy who looks like a bitch(Vaan) lol.

We got the damn game in, too, but they won't let me near the boxes. >_<

Not close enough for me to consider it with the others. If it was any closer though, it'd be too much. Way too much. lol

If you reserved it, Gamestop is having a midnight release for the game. Well, maybe if you didn't reserve it and you want it ASAP, you can pick it up then. I'm going to wait til tomorrow though. The collector's edition is kinda fucked up, and the guide is like, the size of the bible. lol Anytime I go in, they're like, "YOU GOTTA GET THE GUIDE CUZ YOU CAN"T OPEN FOUR CHESTS TO GET THE BEST WEAPON EVAR" and I'm like, "No." I mean, you can get any info for free that you might need for secrets... or whatever. Why should I spend an extra 30 bucks or however much they want to rip us off for.

Edit: Yea, the Collector's Guide is 30 bucks.

I am getting the regular version and I preordered from EB games. I might get the strategy guide. Really looking forward to what I feel will be FFXI offline. Will be able to play at my own pace and not get left behind or leave others behind. I bet Aalan preordered the collectors edition of the game and guide, that fucker gets collectors editions of everything.

IGN gave it a 9.5 and same with 1up if you think they have any credibility as review sources lol.

I fucking hate game guides. If someone beats a game with a guide I don't think they actually beat it. I hate how EB Games always tries to pressure you into buying it, calling it essential.

you gotta think about it though, paying 30 bucks for somethin that cost 5 dollars to produce is $25 of margin. to retailers, thats like free money. but ya, i wouldnt buy the guide unless it had somethin super cool with it

I want the guide, not for storyline or secrets, but just for magic info, stat info, monster info, map info etc. Gonna read it in the car, in the park, during class, on the toilet, etc., just like I did with the FFXI guide (although it was mentally retarded). Gotta be an expert!

My favorite thing about FF strategy guides is always the bestiary in the back. Can just sit and look at monster stats/drops etc.

I got the special edition game and guide just now on my lunch break. The art collection book is pretty sweet. I can't wait to get off work today and go play \:D/

im only like 45 minutes into the game and the battle system is slow and going to take some getting used to, but its not bad. and the events so far seem really jumpy, everything else is so fast paced i dont really get a change to get a grab on wtf is actualy happening, not to mention the fact that vaan needs a new hair style. lol
