I still use KO sword at lvl 60... lol. Vann and Bosch hit for about 3k plus they have the bonus of a shield. Times 3x of a instant kill. Now if i could just get my cat ear hood.

He was very easy. Probably the easiest boss I've encountered thusfar.

I freaked out at first cause there was no save before it. I used my nosebleed characters to do a 13 chain Quickening off the bat. His health dropped about 15% -_-. But other than that he was fairly simple. I had plenty of smelling salts and confuse was the only scary thing. Luckily I bought my characters alternate ranged weapons so I could continue attacking while immobilized.

I'm not saying he was "easy" but I definitely played him better than all the other bosses. In fact, he's the only one I didn't die on.

When he split up my camera went nuts and I couldn't see anything and I didn't know how many clones there were. I freaked out and actually performed a summon to try and wipe out the clones with a final attack but stupid summon got killed as he was readying the attack. Didn't get "Game Over" but I'm pretty sure all members of my main party got dropped at least once during the fight.

I about shat my pants when it split. I'm not sure if it was a bug but the clones never attacked me... Of all the bosses it was one of the easy ones.

As for the hunts, they are too easy at lvl 60 =P. I'm workin on a few IV and completed a few V. On one of the V hunts i found a spot in the crystal where lvl 60 mobs keep spawning. I sat there for about 30min and got about 250k exp.

I'm on the fast track now. I've had some hardass times but i've downed every boss since the Mandragoras on my first attempt, which is alot of bosses. My party is 48 but I might try and level up to 55 or so before continuing or something.

I've heard alot of strategies and stuff but really I just have a simply curaga macro and do almost everything manually. All of my licensing is more or less done (my main people have all the spells). Plus all that farming made me really rich so I just buy all the new gear as it comes up. I'm excited for the conclusion.

If you get your front line team to 55, you can go through the rest of the game with little trouble. It's more enjoyable when no more exp work is involved :) for me anyways. You are almost at the end!

First death since Mandragora boss: about 20 minutes into The Undying -_- I must have been close as hell. Damn. I don't think that the definition of "hard" should be "let's put 6 bosses together with no save". That's more like "frustrating". Oh well.

The Undying is pretty cool though, he has esper style gimmicks (shield spams) and crap like that, along with his own unique attacks.

I can never complain about a Judge fight in that game so the Gabranth before the final boss is pure gold. The Basch/Gabranth story is one of my very favorites across all final fantasies. The two of them have the Cecil/Kain type setup not just with each other but with themselves. They've been dead center at the fall of 3 kingdoms (Landis, Nabradia, Dalmasca), they have parallel protective duties (Basch/Ashe, Gab/Larsa), and without them the game doesn't really exist. Good shit. I wish they had marketed Basch as the "main" character.

I think that the Basch/Gabranth, as well as every plot and subplot in the game, is severely under developed. Tomorrow when I beat the game I'll write my thoughts on it.

Well I just beat it but I can't really remember any of my complaints with the game after that ending cinematic....

I really enjoy FMV endings. It's a nice treat after spending so much time on the game. FFXII has a really good one. Congrats on beating it \:D/

To be honest, Gabranth was actually the hardest (besides The Undying of course). His last 5% of health makes him go into that frenzy where he hits like 7 times. that shit is hard, especially since I couldn't finish him with a Quickening.

The Undying was tough too. The second time I actually entered the battle with just Ashe (level 25) alive and I was able to phoenix down and bring my A-Team back up.

I left the room after the credits started rolling. Was there a scene after the credits? I hope there wasn't. I thought it was funny that Basch now wears the Judge-Magister gear despite that armor being designed to look menacing.

I still have some issues with the game but that will have to be written some other time!

Basch wears the armor because it's his brother's and he's carrying on his brother's duty and keeping the promise he made to protect Larsa, because Larsa is the last of the line of Solidor and is the axis of the empire.

Throughout the game Gabranth carried on with shame as his shield and desperation as his weapon. Basch abandoned shame and desperation and did things simply because they had to be done, when you meet him Vaan yells at him and says everything that has happened is his fault. When you meet Ashe she says the same thing and nobody believes him when he says it was his twin brother that killed the king, but he doesn't try to convince them, he just accepts it because it won't change anything. He just carries on as a Knight of Dalmasca sworn to protect the royalty by any means necessary in the face of any opposition.

Gabranth is doing 2 things in the game. First he's trying to make amends for his failure (he was a knight of Landis, which fell to archades) and to convince himself he can still be a protector he's taken the role of guardian to Larsa. He's like Larsa's private knight, parallel to Basch/Ashe. Second he's trying to make Basch feel the pain and regret he's been ravaged by in the years since the fall of Landis. That's why he killed the Dalmascan king in disguise, that's why he talks SO MUCH shit whenever he sees Basch. He's busy trying to convince Basch that he's weak and worthless, but of course Basch is awsesome and he doesn't give a shit.

Gabranth searches for reasons and Basch doesn't need a reason to do anything.

Gabranth died with weight on his shoulders and misdeeds unamended. Basch tried to help him in the last encounter (if you have basch in your pt you get little extra scenes during the fights) but Gabranth was so crushed by his own shame he couldn't even bear himself. So as gabranth died with weight on him, Basch, in as literal a sense as he can, takes gabranth's weight on his own shoulders. He'll wear his armor and continue Gabranth's duty to Larsa and the Archadian Empire. They're brothers and they are fallen knights.

btw I don't think there's a scene after credits, in fact for this game after the "The End" screen they actually bring you back to title screen if I remember correctly. FFs usually leave you at the eternal "The End" screen and force you to turn the system off while your jaw is agape and your eyes are teary from the ending. haha

Nice man! I didn't have it in me to level to 99. I'm not as hardcore about sidequests and 100% completion as I used to be. Getting all that done on FFXII would be a ton of work#-o Good luck with all that!

if you're up for it you could easily get from lvl 50-99 in one sitting. there is a certain leveling spot and strategy that makes it go by fast. i think it took me 4 hours to get from 70-99

henne mines room with the switch and the bats pop. you sleepga them and then curaja them to death. 125,000 exp every 5 minutes.

one thing that pisses me off about endgame treasure hunts is those damn "You find a KNOT OF RUST." diamond armlet ftl :(

Well im on my way toward Archades so i hope i find it there.

I am to the point i stopped opening most chests i see because all i ever get is those stupid knots of rust that were useful for the one fight with no weapons at the begining.

Henne Mines Secret Area exp
not sure what level you can start exping here, but it was way easy at lvl 70. so i guess 50's. bats are like lvl 60 something.

1. unlock the secret area of henne mines by obtaining i think 10 espers and talking to the geomancer in jahara. also buy some "Main Gauche" daggers while you're there. that's the weapon you use because it has the highest evasion.

2. get to the room with the switch (Pithead Junction C). you can see it at http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file ... secret.png
i think there are 2 "S" for switch on that map, it's the upper left one.

3. equip double exp accessories (embroidered tippet), a good shield (i use demon shields), main gauche, and either hp or magic armors.

4. set up gambits something like this:
Character A "Sleeper"
Ally: Any = Arise
Foe: Undead = Sleepga
Ally: HP<60% = Curaja
Foe: Status Sleep = Curaja
Self = Bubble
Self = Faith
Self = Protect
Self: MP<10% = Charge

Character B "Bubbler"
Ally: Any = Arise
Ally: Any = Bubble
Foe: Status HP Critical = Curaja
Foe: Undead = Sleepga
Ally: HP<60% = Curaja
Foe: Status Sleep = Curaja
Self = Faith
Self = Protect
Ally: Status Poison = Poisona
Self: MP<10% = Charge

Character C "Healer"
Ally: Any = Arise
Ally: HP<70% = Curaja
Foe: Undead = Curaja
Self = Bubble
Self = Faith
Self = Protect
Self: MP<10% = Charge
Ally: HP<100% = Curaja

5. All you have to do is enter Pithead Junction C, flip the switch, and let the macros do the work. After about 3-5 minutes, the bats stop popping and you've gained 125,000 or so exp. Flip the switch back and walk Pithead Junction C -> Phase 2 Shaft -> Crossover C -> Phase 2 Shaft -> Back to Pithead Junction C to cause the bats to respawn.

6. That's it. The hard part is staying awake. I got over chain 600 twice.
