well i will definately remember this when i get a bit higher, im still at level 26-28 with 3 characters and level 19-22 with the other 3, so i need some spells and items i don't currently have ><

Any suggestion for these lower levels? i like the pumpkins in the forest, just wish they gave a tad bit more exp.

You should go level. Your characters are pretty low for being at the Phon Coast.

I just hit 30 on all my characters and I'm putzing around the Highlands still. I haven't made it to Archades yet, but I'm probably gonna grind on overkings.

I've been afraid to click on this thread, spoilers omg

just beat yiazmat. very easy at first. but toward the end it's extremely annoying. he KO's one person per hit, basically. total time in battle is about 4.5 hours

Yea I could beat it now but I still have Seer, Hellwyrm, Pyrlaster, Yiazmat and Omega to go. Can't wait to see how it all ends, I hear I won't be disappointed.

Revenant Wings is going to be muchos funos. The ending opens the next game up fairly well.

So you guys like that SE will be making sequels to FF games instead of making a final resolution at the end of their games? They have comprimised their original ideals and become whores just like the rest of the gaming industry and hollywood imo. I liked it better when the ending was the end and there was no mistaking it was over.

Did you seriously enjoy this game using the gambit system? I haven't had a problem with any boss yet and all I have left is Yiazmat and Omega (I read that Omega is easy if you use reverse and Yiazmat is just long and boring until the end). Seriously I virtually sleepwalked through this game's "gameplay". I went and beat the game on another save and I was disappointed they didn't really end the game. They leave you with knowledge there will be a sequel, I can't think of anything more horrible they could have done. Overall this is right next to FF8 as the worst FF game ever produced imo.

I agree. Though i personally think its better than 8 lol, the battle system leaves something i don't know. Leaves you wanting a bit more.

I think the real ending of the game occurs at the Pharos light tower, that's where the "make-or-break" decision of the game was and the decision made there decides whether the
Occuria will keep control over time or the "reins of history" will be back in the hands of man. The whole game is a contest between Venat (who wants to destroy the crystal and give man control of his own fate) and the high occuria (who want ashe to use the crystal and destroy the men who'd use it to create power beyond the occuria). Everything after that is just to wrap up the loose ends and the personal strife between Ashe and Vayne (which doesn't actually exist haha). When you beat Vayne he talks to Venat and says something like "I wasn't the right choice, you need someone else to fulfill your goal" and Venat tells him it's already done and he did perfectly. Everything went according to venat's design. The way I see it the story was a fight between Venat and the High Occuria, and the player party, Cid, Larsa, the Judges, and Vayne were the knights of Venat's board.
Either way i thought the ending blew and I didn't think it led up to a sequel lol. I just saw it as a
ride into the sunset kinda thing. Vaan's on his way to hang around with balthier but I didn't think he was on his way to be a pirate. Penelo looks awesome in the ending, if she looked like that in the game she'd have been a lot cooler.
At least Basch had a total wrap-up. He was my favorite character and had the best story imo.

I'll play revenant wings anyway because (iirc) I hear it plays like Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memory.

I liked FF8. lol

Love the spoiler tag btw, I had seen something like it on a Silent Hill forum a while back and didn't think to recommend it since I didn't post so much then.

Well the game's story isn't exactly Dickens and I think the real appeal for me lies in the characters. I want to see Balthier is another game because he's just too cool.

I found it odd that this game had one of the very best overall cast of characters yet a somewhat weak overall story.

The story was a trainwreck set in a really cool place with good characters.

Yea the characters rock, beat the game and overall it was nice to finally do it, but after playing 12 final fantasies in my lifetime I was kinda looking foward a "final" final fantasy, an end all be all starring every great character from all the previous episodes to go out with a bang.

espers were damn pointless

half of the weapons were even pointless

gambit system was ok, needed tweaking, I hated the latency in cpu attacks, not sure how much I liked it

license board - don't get me started, I hated this, "hey, let's make everyone essentially the same!" I like my white mage as a white mage, black mage as a black mage etc. etc. When it's setup like that, it's called strategy, when it's set up like FFXII, it's called lazy generic character builds in order to win and kill shit faster.

The bubble spell (I hated this spell) whatever happened to having 9999 HP now instead it was like now you have to cast a spell for it.

The game was immense, the sidequests part felt longer than the actual story, it also detracted from it rather than added IMO

Totally with Ponuh on Balthier, he had the most personality and definitely was a "leadig man"

Balthier was 22 correct? he seemed to appear alot older than that to me... not physicaly, but in every other aspect.

good point Whisp. Out of all the RPGs Ive played recently though I really enjoyed Dragon Quest VIII. Yes it was all cartoony but it was fun as hell.

yea dq8 was the best of the last few years. i actually consider it alongside ff4 and 6..and secret of mana..

theyre just so...complete. they never left me feeling empty. ff12 did, on occasion. i'd still give ff12 somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5
but it just felt kinda.. i dunno.. empty, towards the end

Balthier told me he was hot shit alot in the story which was funny, he didn't prove anything to me other than his past (same w/ Reddas but Reddas was cooler than Balthier imo). He got really irritating after a while to be honest. His best attribute is that he owns an airship. I didn't like FFX that much but Auron >>>> Balthier. He just was a badass, and didn't have to constantly remind you that he was. Vaan is fucking worthless almost in the game. Basch didn't have enough of a role. Fran, Ashe and especially Penelo are weak as fuck characters.
