What happened to Red Octane after the split, do you know? They were half the company that made the guitars themselves. I only know them from work when I was involved with DDR Stuff.

My sister came over and played rockband with me and whisp, and she really enjoyed the create-a-rockstar portion of the game. I think she got more excited over what earrings she could buy for her avatar than playing the actual songs. It was funny.

I think Red Octane is working with activision on this. I know the main group in Rock Band besides Harmonix is MTV Games.

Anyways, has anyone beat the guitar solo tour on expert yet? I'm stuck on the last song, can't get past 95%.

I'm enjoying the drums the most. Even though guitar is fun, the drums are more like real drums than the guitar is like real guitar.

LOL this reminds me of the South Park where Kyle and Stan are playing GH and his Dad comes in and wants to show them how he can play a real guitar.

Quote:
Hi Everyone,

As we have said in the past, Harmonix and MTV Games believe in an open standard philosophy of hardware and game compatibility. We think that there should be interoperability between music instrument controllers across all music games. This is clearly in the best interest of consumers, game developers and console manufacturers and will only help to grow the music game genre as well as inspire innovation and creativity.

Two weeks ago, Harmonix created a software patch for the Sony PLAYSTATION 3 version of Rock Band that allowed for guitar compatibility and support for third party peripherals, including enabling use of Activision's Guitar Hero III controller with Rock Band. The compatibility patch was submitted, approved and had been scheduled for release by Sony on Tuesday, December 4. Unfortunately, Activision objected to the compatibility patch's release. The patch remains with Sony, but we have been told that it will unfortunately not be released due to Activision's continued objection.

As is the case with the Microsoft Xbox360, we believe that Sony PLAYSTATION 3 users should be able to use the peripheral of their choice with Rock Band. We sincerely hope that Activision will reverse its decision and allow release of the compatibility patch and further, that Activision will allow Guitar Hero III to support Rock Band guitar controllers as well. We welcome all third party developers who wish to support our controllers and will provide any required support in order for them to do so.

We believe that when consumers have choice, everyone wins. Harmonix and MTV Games hope that Activision and others will also adopt this philosophy.

Sincerely,
The Harmonix Team

It works on the PC for a game that isn't Rock Band. Some GuitaRPG game. Can't remember the name.

Dad sells son's 90-dollar video game online for more than 9000
OMFG!

Quote:
MONTREAL (AFP) - After catching his 15-year-old smoking pot, a father sold the hard-to-get "Guitar Hero III" video game he bought his son for 90 dollars for Christmas at an online auction, fetching 9,000 dollars.

The sale took place after the father spent two weeks searching for the video game for the Nintendo Wii gameboard.

"So I was so relieved in that I had finally got the Holy Grail of Christmas presents pretty much just in the nick of time. I couldn't wait to spread the jubilance to my son," the father wrote on the eBay website.

"Then, yesterday, I came home from work early and what do I find? My innocent little boy smoking pot in the back yard with two of his delinquent friends."

The man, a school teacher, who kept his identity private, said he sold the coveted video game to punish his son and discourage him from smoking dope.

The sale was a boon for the family's bank account, since the game the father purchased for 90 dollars (US) was finally sold to an Australian who plunked down 9,100 dollars for it.

The naughty son, however, will not go without a present on Christmas.

"I am still considering getting him a game for his Nintendo. Maybe something like Barbie as the Island Princess or Dancing with the Stars ... I know he will just love them," the father said, tongue-in-cheek.

dont know if your being a sarcastic dick or not.. but i'll give you the benifit that your not doing that this time :).

but right now i have an artistic block on which direction i want this character to go, on top of the fact that i have to finish my demo reel here soon, ive been kind of busy and ive put it aside-ish. maybe when i get some time i'll upload some concept art and designs, including a summary of the plot.

Just got this game 3 days ago, it is so fucking amazing. Drums are the most fun of all, can't stop playing this game. Top it off with awesome DLC (Metallica) and full album DLC coming soon, you can't beat this in a ryhtym music game.
