Those are the beta's sony has given to the press. They don't have blue ray movie support, no extra features no backwards compatability blah blah, it only plays copied ps3 games

lol kinda, though when i first got my ps2 i thought it was hot that i can still play whatever new games Like (ff9) that came on the ps1 at the time the ps2 came out.

The cool thing is that basically its just like replacing your ps2, even the space it takes, you have 3 systems hooked into one unit.

Does PS3 play PS1 games? I never owned a PS1. So I use that. Although im pretty sure Tal has a PSone somewhere, or maybe it was his friends.

I hope to pick up PS3 around april next year. Ill probably end up shipping my PS2 to Talisin.

yea the ps3 plays ps2 and ps1 games.

Whats funny is that, sony wanted emulation to be as perfect as possible like 98% for the ps2 for its ps1 games. That they fitted the actual ps2 graphics chip inside the ps3. They did the same thing for the ps2. Since emulation takes alot of time to code, they simply attached the ps1 inner workings inside the first years batch of ps2 (i believe eventually they Made the emulation software based after they got rid of most of the glitches)
Eventually they'll do a software based emulation of ps2 games later down the road when they get the glitches out of the way. In the meantime they'll just put the insides of a ps2 inside the ps3 too. Even though thats more expensive for them.

I still own PS1 and PS2 games so it will be good thing that I can still play those on PS3.

Funny thing is I didnt buy PS1 system until I got FFVII.

yea ps1 games run fine, its using the same emulation program the ps2 used, so if it ran on ps2 it will run on ps3

turns out my PS2 has finally crapped out on me, so i am going to need to replace it...

went by best buy to see the line, and they wont "officially" have a line for it till 24hrs before they release on friday mornin @ 7:00am, but there is about 12 ppl camping out at the park across the street until then.

and man, after seeing the PS3 in action and blu-ray running on at 1080p, i wish i would have gotten the HD version of my tv when i got it earlier this summer

Some nice screens of the PS3's graphics working to it's utmost potential.

I work at walmart and we only got in 12 units of the ps3. The first people to get in line for it were there at 9pm the 14th when i went to work. When i left work this morning at 8am there were at least 10 people in line for it. Gonna be some really pissed off people come tonight at midnight. Pretty crazy to camp out in walmart for over 24 hours though lol. When i left they were being moved from the layaway area to the garden center so they woudln't be in the way i guess. Half the people were passed out on the floor anyways haha. But yeah pretty crazy.

Resistance: Fall of Man got pretty good reviews actually. Other than that the games aren't getting rave reviews.

Oh yeah and all the reports on the added SIXAXIS control functionality is that it is similar in some respects to what Nintendo did with the Wii. Moving the controller around to control certain actions in PS3 games sounds interesting and basically copies Nintendo's idea, but on a system with superior hardware.

PS3's SIXAXIS is nothing more than a Poorman's wiimote. PS3s controller only accounts for tilting. Forward, backwards, left right. Its based on motion detectors built into the controller. The Wiimote works in a perfect 3D space. They are totally different in design.

PS3's controller is nothing more than motion detecting Sidewinder that MS released for the PC like 8 years ago. No one liked it.

I was at Gamestop buying FFVa and the guy behind the counter had a conference call on speaker phone that apparently included Gamestops all over the area. They were going over their plans for PS3 launch. I was listening to the call while perusing the store, and the lady on the phone says:

"Due to our commitment to customer satisfaction, Gamestop employees will NOT have access to the first wave of PS3s, and any previous reservations will be moved to a later shipment."

Well, the employee behind the counter starts having a freakout moment, repeating over and over "No, oh no, oh no..." haha. He was visably upset when I got to the counter. And when the lady on the phone started asking if any employees had reserved a PS3, he picked up the phone and yelled "ME!" and slammed it down.

lol what a baby.

TS I would have paid good money to see that lol.

Although im not getting a PS3 for myself, i dont think hes being a baby at all. Thats complete and utter bullshit that EB/Gamestop employees arent allowed to fucking buy systems. I mean, we dont work at at a gamestore because we like the sound of opening and closing plastic game boxes all day.

PS3 is crap and i'm not getting one anyway but its like saying blockbuster employees shouldnt be allowed to rent new movies, or that Dell employees shouldnt be allowed to purchase the latest computers that are ON SALE. I mean, we're not even talking about getting the systems before launch. We're talking about not being able to buy a system AT LAUNCH that we would ACTUALLY play.. rather than and giving it to the whiney "general public" who will turn around and sell them on ebay anyway.

EB Games gets money, sony gets money, everyone gets money. Why does it matter if it's from an employee or customer. They should just not let them get a discount, but let them still get their console.

Because they are empolyees. If they take a console then they have 1 customer who doesnt have a console. Its not about money at this point, its about Customer Relations.

I thinks fair to say No Employee Purchases on the first wave for launch day. The second wave should be opened up. That way they get it for christmas and only a week or two late. I mean come on, they have it easy already getting it for cheaper and knowing that they WILL get a unit.

I use to work at a computer store an a few times I had something I ordered given to a customer who wanted it. Pissed me off to no end, but thats just the way it was.

I dont know about stores like target or best buy, but employees dont get discounts on any consoles to begin with. Used or New. And the thing with PS3 launch is that we honestly dont know when we're getting another shipment. My manager was on the same conference a couple days ago, sony has no idea when they will be shipping their 2nd batch of playstations. It could be december or March for all we know.

As for Wii, we've already got 36 sitting in our backroom lol.
