I know quite a few of us got a Wii, but did anyone get a PS3? Is anyone trying hard to get one?

If anyone actually got a PS3 at launch and did not ebay it, that'd be crazy. Unless maybe money is no object to you. But why would someone not want $1500-$2000+ profit. I mean video games are fun and all, but that's some serious cash.

Don't have one, don't want one, and haven't checked on the availability in my area.

I don't know anybody irl with a PS3 to play. I know a couple people who sold them on Ebay or are trying to sell here. One friend is selling (2) 20 GIGs locally for $1100...lol fuck that.

I've been shopping a lot lately and I ask for the hell of it. Places here don't plan on seeing any more PS3 for a long time. Wii are still sold out like crazy here...I've been trying to get one.

I'm not trying hard, but I'm still checking to see if there are any anywhere. EBGameStop is getting random orders of Wii and PS3, but they're gone by the time I get there.

I never buy systems at launch because the games are always horrible and the systems are always glitchy. Even nintendo is having t's fair share of complaints this time around.

I was at Gamestop the other day and the PS3 they had on display was turned off. The guy said they've had it crash about 15 times already, and they didn't feel like messing with it anymore, so they just left it off.

I want one but am willing to wait till it comes down to the 400$ range. Until then ill be happy playing my friends 360

i camped out for one and didnt get one, was 32 in line and best buy only got 28 (they said they were gettin atleast 35)

i want the system because my ps2 is broke, so i cant play FFXII, and also, MGS4, GT-HD, FFXIII, and others. hopefully, i can grab one before dec 14th, so i can play it while im recovering from surgery

funny thing about ebay is, the systems on there are now only going for 800 bucks or so, which means that the demand for the system lowered the price... too many greedy douche bags wanted to make an easy buck, serves em right

played one at Wal-Mart and yea it's an impressive system and all, but the price just floors me, why pay 600 now for something that in 2 years when games are classics and everything else will be cheaper?

Also I agree with TS about if you have one you'd be almost crazy not to sell it.

a PS3 and several games along with actual profit money in your pocket after Christmas?

I did see the prices drop on ebay however, it will go up as Christmas nears again and people realize that there are seriously none to be had unless they buy it from there.

Dunno how cheap this'll be in a few years. PS2 was $300 at release and now, 6+ years later it's still $120 new. It could be a long time til PS3 has a decent price.

Yea but $300 and $600 for a game console is a huge difference to the average consumer.

Most people were happy to pay $300 for a next gen PS2, so price drops weren't really necessary, but I'd say only a fraction of those people would want to pony up $600 bucks for a game console. I think we'll see more aggressive price drops because of that. And due to the fact that the Wii is so cheap compared to the PS3. I'd say at some point late next year the $599 version will be dropped to $399.

Sony cant drop the price any more until parts or manufacturing costs go down. As it stands right now Sony is losing hundreds per console.

about 301 $ for the 20 gig model and 240 something dollars off the 60 gig models.

Another reason the PS2 didn't really need big price drops is that a lot of people bought the PS2 to play games AND to use as a DVD player. I know the first PS2 I had was also my first DVD player, so it was worth the money. Now that most people have a stand-alone DVD player, the added on DVD capabilities of the PS3 isn't as much of a selling point as it was with the PS2. The Blu-ray DVD player is what's driving up the cost so much, but I don't think the general market really cares about blu-ray right now.

Yeah I don't even know what a blu ray is but I thought that's the media they use on psp movies? PS2 was my first/only dvd player too.

PSP movies use UMD. Blu Ray is an alternative to HD DVD (an unneeded alternative).

off topic: HD DVD ftw! I want a Toshiba HD-XA2. They need to hurry and come out + drop in price.

on topic: I spoke with a friend last night who played PS3, and he said the sixaxis(sp?) doesn't work well. I want to try a game that uses it and see for myself.

I got my playstation 3 today, best buy got 16 in yesterday and soldout within minutes. gamestop got 10 in today and luckily i called em as they were pullin em off the truck and the guy held it for me while i rushed to the store.

am i the first person on the forums to have 1?

Congrats, man. I'll pick one up in maybe 6 months, or so, after all the initial disk-read errors and whatnot that come with a rushed product are fixed. I'll probably pick up a Wii before that. (Or rather get my roommate to buy one, since I'm still trying to adjust to paying car payments for my friggen BMW. heh)
