Quote:
December 13, 2006 - One day after the surprise announcement of Dragon Quest IX for the DS, Square Enix is all set to drop another bombshell. According reports out of Japan, the next issue of Jump Magazine will contain news of two new Final Fantasy Tactics games.

The PSP will be getting Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou, an updated version of the original PlayStation classic. Square Enix is adding new jobs and some slick cell shaded movies, but aside from that, it's unclear what kind of improvements we can expect.

The second project is a bit more mysterious. Nothing is known about this game, except for its title: Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Fuuketsu no Guurimore. We don't even know its target platform. Jump is promising an update down the road.

Both projects fall under a series of projects that Square Enix refers to as "Ivalice Alliance," Ivalice being the name of the world in which both Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII take place. Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, a DS offshoot of this year's PS2 blockbuster, also falls under this project.

We've yet to see the Jump report for ourselves, but with the annual Jump Festa comic/videogame show scheduled to kick off on Saturday in Tokyo, we're hoping to get a look at both new projects shortly. We'll be back later this week with whatever details we can dig up at the show.

I can't wait...! I loved the old ps1 version, it was one of the best games i've ever played. And i hate tactical games. This game was just that damn good!

Original tactics was my favorite game from the FF series. I was wondering the other day when SE would port it to a handheld like all the other FF's. Im just kinda upset that it had to be PSP though..

don't worry lol. The psp is getting the original ps1 remade on it. If you read the info on it, you'll notice they have another tactics coming also, just a moment ago it was annonced that the ds is getting the sequel to the tactics advance game that came out on the sp.
So there you should be happy too!.

I loved Tactics advance, I can't wait for a sequel. I think mine was stolen though -_-, never finished four of the missions.

Excellent. A tactics advance sequel. Don't really need an original tactics remake since I have the actual game but it would have been nice to have it on DS. I like to be able to play and watch football or law & order at the same time. lol

To this day I have not completed all the missions in FFTA. Truly my only gripe with old/traditional FFs now (after FFXI) is that there's no proper way to tank. In FFT/TA you can have a Paladin or a Knight (or Gladiator, Warrior, etc) but his defense is useless unless you're lucky enough for him to be the guy who's under attack. Gotta use Cover carefully lol.

Man there is nothing better than watching TV on the couch in the living room, and playing DS at the same time. I wish I could play all my console games on a porable gaming system like that.

Honestly it's probably another reason I love handheld so much more than console. lol

I'm with Yarr, I was never able to get into tactics... there were just too many options to start out with and I knew after playing for a couple weeks that I still hadn't fully grasped how to play the game properly and that it would be a huge timeskink because I'd have to a. prolly beat the game through once to understand all the ins and outs and then b. start a new game knowing what to do so I could play through it "properly." It just turned me off to the whole things. I guess I've been spoiled by games that creep along and give you a shitload of tutorials and spoon feed the story to you by being blatantly obvious about what to do next.

Yeah I agree. I was just too bogged down with so many other games to play that I never really managed to get the hang of it or get into it. I will one day.

I really want to know what platform FFT A2 is coming to, wonder if it will be GBA since it looks like FFT advance 2...i think FFT series would be better on DS because of the touch screen
