The brick for my 360 power supply is making a horrid loud screeching noise. Have any of you had this problem? Microsoft doesn't seem to sell replacements. That's pretty fucking lame. Help me out if you know of a good way to get a replacement. I don't want a 3rd party one.

I dont think you can get a 3rd party adapter. What you should do is call 1-800-4my-xbox and talk to a rep there. They heard that Microsoft recently extended the warrenty to 1 year. Id call that number and check if thats true. Im pretty sure you can order a new adapter right from MS anyway (from that number).

They sell 3rd party power units for 360 at my store.

Theyre a cool 100 bucks though, heh.

whatever problem you're having--i'm having it for my computer.
the power supply makes a screeching/buzzing/whirling sound.
the only way to alleviate it is to tilt the computer in an odd direction.

if you find out how to fix it, let me know!
i've tried calling HP but they want me to mail them my computer, and im not doing that ((roms, passwords, etc.))

Ok thanks for the replies. I'll call that Microsoft # today and see what I can find out.

My stepbrother came over to watch an HD DVD and he pointed out the sound. I told him it's been annoying the crap out of me. I thought it was the 360 the whole time (it's been happening for a while) because I used to have the brick in my TV stand behind the 360. Now I have it by the power strip on the floor...and you can easily hear the loud noise is coming from the brick. The noise is irritating me more and more. I won't be using my 360 at all till I get it replaced. I can hear it over movies even when I have the volume cranked. My stepbrother thinks it's the fan in the PSU. He thinks if I found a way to disassemble it and clean it out (with air pressure), it would stop making that noise. I don't really want to take it apart. I would rather see if they will cover it. I've had my 360 since June 2006...hell I could probably return it to Costco! I still need to exchange my broken DS (I didn't break it) at Costco.. ](*,)

None of your 360 power supplys make this noise? They aren't excited about replacing mine. I'm still working on it. They may not do it because it still works and lights up green.

my fan used to make a weird noise like that. it was really dirty and kept running against the side of the casing. maybe your fan is crooked.

I went to Costco last night, and found they will replace both my DS and my 360. I'm gonna gather all my shit together and bring it in this weekend (need to bring in my full bundles for both). Man Costco ftw.

There was definately a problem. The new power supply doesn't make any noise...it's a world of difference (this one isn't a grounded plug while the other was...kinda strange).

The Costco dude said they will replace it as long as they sell it in stores, or I can otherwise get a refund in the far future. Buying it from Costco is a lifetime warranty with their current policy. That's fucking rad.

I imagine...if you have any problems with your console, you can buy a new one from Costco, swap out what you need, and return the one you just bought. I bet it would work lol.

Well I bought the 30 dollar 2 year warranty from CompUSA that never ever is what they say it it. It only did it because they were offering a free wireless controller with it and those are just as expensive, so for the something i woul dhave had to buy anyways I got 2 years of "protection against anything"

That's probably the smartest thing to do. 30 bucks for a two year warranty is a fucking good deal with a free wireless controller, official or not.
