So Ive been doing a ton of retro gaming. 90s Retro gaming to be exact. Im still working through Quake (With TONS of visual upgrades) and Im on the last episode of Doom. Now I want more.

Does anyone know of a good site or place I can get my grubby hands on classics like Strife, Hexen I&II, Heritic, Duke and so on?

i love retro gaming but for me FPS is a genre that is much better with newer advances. Older RPGs are on average vastly better than their modern counterparts but FPS is where new technology really shines imo

Yeah I stumbled onto it last night at like 2 AM. Its got pretty much everything that was ever released its bloody insane.

So many awesome Dos FPS games that I just wont ever beable to run on this computer. I need to get my old P-166 working again for some classic 2d FPS action.

cant you just use dosbox? i use v0.54 and it works great with lots of old games like police quest, king's quest, maddog williams, etc. i dont know where i got it but i'm sure you can find it. i remember thinking that the newer dosbox version didn't work right, but i found the 0.54 to work.

Nah Dosbox lags too much for a few of the games I tried, even when I upped the cycle.

I'm playing Halo 2 right now because I've never played a Halo game and I wanted to see what the hype was about (borrowing from a friend). I'm only a couple hours into the campaign. I can barely tell what I'm shooting at unless I'm using the sniper rifle or I'm very close to the enemy. It feels like I'm just blindfiring in the enemy's general direction if they aren't very close. I think better graphics benefit shooters for stuff like that. I like how you can see the bullets hit the enemies in gears of war even from a distance...so you can aim the guns like the lancer and burst. Yes I know the sniper rifle is the best distance weapon and probably should be the only distance weapon...but I'm just saying what I notice the graphics/higher resolution helps with.

btw Halo 2 isn't very great so far. I expected this game to be unbelievable after all the f'ing hype I've heard over the years. Metroid Prime > Halo.
