You got a bike? In order to hatch pokemon you need to take a certain number of steps with it in your party. I'm betting that you have to take 5,300 steps (like most others) and the best way to do that is just go up and down the bike path for like 5 minutes. The one the dude just gave you is a devolved Chansey.
You get pokemon eggs by breeding them at the day care center. Its in the rown right before the 3rd gym. When two pokemon of the same breeding type are left at the daycare center, you get an egg that is the same pokemon as the mother. But has a chance to learn a move from the father that it normally wouldnt learn right when he hatches. Right now i'm in the process of breeding a bagillionGhastly untill I get one that has the personality trait that gives it +spec. attack and - defense. (since ghosts dont need defense anyway)
OHhoo I see. This will be interesting, how long do I have to leave the 2 monsters at the daycare?
I have 3 badges now and I'm in the town with the 4th gym, I just caught a pair (fem/male) of blue Shellos on the beach. I own 26 different types and I've seen 74. My party hasn't changed much since I started:
1: Turtwig (now Grotle, I always picked Bulbasau to start pokemon red)
2: Geodude (now Graveler, strong and dependable)
3: Shinx (now Luxray, fully evolved, the only thunder monster I've found)
4: Psyduck (depndable psychic+water, kinda weak but will evolve soon)
5: Ponyta (Rapidash is my favorite fire monster, needs 10ish levels to evolve)
6: Starly (now Staravia, haven't leveled it much but need a flyer)
Average level is in the high 20s, the only severely underlevelled one is the bird at 18. I'd like to level a Shellos, I caught some blue ones which look great and it seems like a high defense monster, along with that it's a water mob with ground moves which is pretty weird and cool. I have trouble with gym trainers because I'm not used to these crazy hybrid monsters they keep whipping out (wtf psychic/fighter). I hope Luxray starts learning more moves soon, I still only have ths starter thunder attack (spark) and starting tackle. Besides that I stuck with Charge and Roar for his other 2 slots, level 31 now. His special power is low compared to his attack, I'd like to find a more magic oriented thunder monster eventually(where is Pikachu :/) but for now this guy is my favorite party member and Psyduck is his main teammate in dual fights.
I've heard I can get Bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle, and many others just by having ruby, sapphire, or emerald in the gba slot.
