So I just finished modding my PSP, and picked up a 4gig memory stick. Now i'm able to download PSX games and play them on the PSP.

So, besides the obvious games (FFTactics, FF7-9), what are some of your favorite games for Playstation 1?

All I had was Sega Saturn back then (I was like 12) so i missed out on all the good titles that hit the PS1. Is there anything out there that I should look into downloading? Is Metal Gear Solid 1 worth playing on the PSP? What games do you think are worth playing, 10 years later?

Suikoden, great oldschool rpg with strategy elements.
Wild Arms, great oldschool rpg.
Alundra, Top down action rpg.
Blood Omen Legacy of Kain, top down action rpg.
Silent Hill, spectacular survival horror.
Parasite Eve, survival horror rpg with active time battle with action elements.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, set the standard for all the GBA Castlevanias.
Wild 9, great fun sidescroller/platformer.
Crash Bandicoot 2, best of the series.
Crash Team Racing, better than mario kart.
Ape Escape, fun weird game, elements of stealth and platforming.
Einhander, amazing sidescrolling ship shooter made by Square.
Legend of Legaia, challenging rpg with a fun Xenogears style fighting system.
Metal Gear solid, but if you have a gamecube maybe buy that version I guess.


I don't mention Resident Evil, Ace Combat, Ridge racer, or Street Fighter Alpha because I figure those are in the "obvious ones" category.

Lunar Silver Star Story and then Lunar Eternal Blue. Only the two best games ever made, really.

Breath of Fire 3 & 4
I've been told the Tenchu games are good but i haven't played them.

Thats all i can think of right now.

Add Vagrant Story and maybe Grandia if your looking for an RPG to spend forever and a day on.

PSX had so many good RPG's. I forgot about Wild Arms haha. That game was fun. + 1 for Breath of Fire 3 & 4, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears
