Dragons, Metroids, and indecisiveness...oh my!

I've been excited about Blue Dragon and Metroid Prime 3 for a while...and of course they both come out the same friggin day! (today)

I read about Blue Dragon and it's supposedly very easy with a weak storyline. Metroid is supposed to be awesome...for some reason I still wanna play Blue Dragon first. I'm indecisive! I won't touch either till this weekend since I'm still having orgasms to Bioshock my second time through.

This is a great year for video games. So many good games coming to every system this year!

I'm 11 hours into Blue Dragon.

Here's what I dislike. The story is boring and the dialogue puts me in a bad mood. Every single character in the game (so far) annoys the shit out of me. Especially Marumaro. I want to turn the volume off every time he talks. The dialogue and voice acting annoys me as much as Enchanted Arms. The game is very easy...leveling up (on the side) doesn't seem necessary if you fight your way through the field and dungeons. All the boss enemies so far have been pansies, and the battle music for boss fights is horrible lol.

I like the gameplay. The battles are fun. It's good ol fashioned turn based. There is a job system where you can choose any job for your characters. Some have to be unlocked by leveling. You can level the jobs to 99. You gain new skills associated with the job as you level it (like MP + 25%, counterattack up, etc).

The graphics are good half the time. It's hard to describe...sometimes it looks smoky and faded and sometimes it's bright and sharp. The high resolution cutscenes look good, and are plentiful. At this rate I can see why it requires 3 discs lol.

The sound is good minus the boss fights. There is an audio help that annoyed me at first, but it's growing on me (you can turn it off). It helps because it says "detected" when you get aggro, and tells you "Lost" if you lose the aggro. The music in zones and regular battles is what you would expect from Nobuo Uematsu...it's great!

Anyways...the game is good enough I will finish it. I hear the story gets better. We'll see. I might kill Shu and Marumaro before the end, I hope they grow up and stop acting like spastic/loud anime toons.

Well I'm near the end of Blue Dragon. I'm doing sidequests before I beat it.

The story got better and more interesting. There were even cutscenes that gave me goosebumps. Marumaro still needs to fucking die. The rest of the charcters are kinda growing on me. Still nothing comparable to Final Fantasy series.

Funny story on disc 2...my playtime jumped from 19 hours to 156,000 hours (literally lol). It was some sort of glitch. I didn't bother loading a previous save and re-doing stuff. I just created a new save after that (and subtract from it). Anyways I'm about 40 hours into the game, with atleast 5 hours of idle time mixed in....so yeah it's not very long.

I hear Eternal Sonata is 20-30 hours long.

Ok I beat Blue Dragon finally. I have an amazing tip for anybody who plans on playing...use Japanese language instead of English!. It's 100% less annoying (subtitles are English still). The Japanese voices were done well. I found the dialogue is much better without the crappy English dub.

Great game...I will definatley play it again sometime.

Yea, I heard that game was ruined by poor voice acting. I remember putting Grandia Xtreme (that should have been the clue) and listening to the voices, turning it off, and trading it in. lol I'd be tempted to get Blue Dragon when the price drops though.

I played the demo and the voice acting was aweful. I originally wanted to get the game, but after the demo I decided not too.

fag, I told you. it's awesome, I just unlocked the first extended ending with 75% of all items obtained so i'm pretty far. I'm playing it on Veteran which makes the game alot better but i'll play it on a harder setting after unlocking it. Get this game...

Yeah I plan on buying Metroid Prime 3 this weekend. A couple friends have it and it's pretty rad.

Then Halo 3 I guess....I might as well jump on that fanboy favorite so I can play with all my rl friends.

Its awesome but harder due to new controls that makes you move so much with your hands than fingers. I give a 9 of 10 for this game. \:D/
