We have a used 60GB PS3 at work, and with my discount it comes to about $365.50. What I'd like to know from you guys that own a PS3, would it be worth it to buy one now, or should I just wait for price drop/better games/something else? I don't have an HDTV yet so the BluRay or other graphical arguments can stay moot for now.

i got a 60 gb for 599 usd when it came out (split with my mom for a christmas present), anyway i don't regret the purchase because my ps2 was starting to crap out and i have a ton of ps2 stuff i need to play. I have about 7 games and about 8-10 Blu-rays, i'd say its worth it for 365. I did not have an HDTV when i got it but recently did and Bluray movies look amazing. Can't wait for my blu-ray spiderman3 trilogy to arrive from amazon.

Forgot to mention that u know u got the usual multiplatform games like Assassin's creed and cod4 coming out, which if u dont have a 360 should be good on ps3 as well

If you can get a PS3 for that price IMO do it. Then start saving for an HDTV ASAP. The difference in HD > SD gaming is so huge I can't even begin to explain. HD movies are the shit too.

Not a bad price at all, my 80gb motorstorm+lair bundle was 730$ CDN after taxes and all. Kinda pissed cause they just dropped the price on it from 659,99 to 500. (2 days after the 30 day return policy, I could have got my money back haha)

The only thing I can think of is the 60gb model is older and may have some backward compatibility issues? Might be fixed with a patch idk.

the original 60 gb ones have complete backwards compatibility, the one that he is talkin about since its used is probably 100% BC, the newer 80 gb ones is probably where u are gonna have an issue

Yeah I was planning on getting a 360 with the new chipset after the holidays but I saw this PS3 so since Armani's got a 360 I was thinking about getting it. Then getting an HDTV after I spend all my money buy people gift's for christmas. haha

Anyone play Heavenly Sword or Lair? Those games looked interesting to me, plus of course the multi platforms are a plus for both systems. Too bad Sony and M$ don't work together to bring the multi platform games together for multiplayer.

heavenly sword is good game with excellent graphics> Lair is also a good game but lots of people complain about control issues. I'd go with Conan over Lair, pick up Warhawk also its amazing. Online onry but amazing.

I heard Conan is decent except for the fact that any enemy can interrupt your combo. I don't know, I'll probably end up just checking out games from work til I see something I absolutely must have lol.

Heavenly sword is good, I didn't get into lair cause the controls suck. I really don't like the sixaxis. Picked up elder scrolls oblivion for 20$ used and havn't played much, been playing ff7/8 in my spare time lol.

Heavenly sword is hella cool, its an insane button masher but a very pretty game, sadly my roomate beat it in like 8 hours, as with most the PS3 games we've tried, they are pretty but short.

I heard lair sucked, i havent tried it, the transformers game was neat, but again short and we just got blazing aces from Gamefly so i dont know how good or bad it is, but hell its nice to play PS1 and PS2 games with a wireless controller, altho the missing rumble kinda sucks.

But id have to say go for it, we took all our PS2 controllers and shit in to trade in on the PS3 and aside from the fact i havent gotten a memory card cord to put my memory card saves on the PS3 HD yet, its still well worth the backwards compatability that the older models have.

as for Bluray we dont have a HD tv yet, so we havent tried to watch a bluray movie yet.

ive been enjoying Folklore. the bosses are huge and challenging, and it's an aesthetically pleasing game with a refreshing mystery/sad/Imaginationland feel to it

the only game ive really played on the ps3 is FIFA08, ohh yeah and i played a downloadable game called FLOW, its a nice relaxing game full of pretty colors and pleasing sounds.

Played the downloadable demo, really did not like it. Graphics are really not impressive, sixaxis control can get lost.

The only game I have really ever been able to play for hours, upon hours, upon hours, upon days, upon weeks/months/years is HAL Labratory's suprisingly successful project; Super Smash Brothers. Even though the american version was tampered with WAY too much (anyone who has played the japanese version knows what im talking about), it still is able to entertain me today, and tomorrow, and the day after, etc.
