Many games (although beautiful) can be beaten through rentals while others should remain in your library for friends and online play which makes them probably worth the buy. Whats on your list?

Halo 3 - Buy (kind of sick of it but the new Heroic Map pack just came out) it is one of the most mentioned shooter games other than Orange Box and COD4

COD4 - Buy

Orange Box - Buy, it's a bunch of games in 1 orange box

Forza 2 - Buy (I got this with Marvel U.A. holiday pack but this game would have been bought as I always bought many of the Gran Turismo games, I enjoy the shit out of this game but I really wish the good folks @ Forza would have implemented custom soundtrack play on the game itself while driving through the tracks) The XBox downloads for this game are pretty cool and if you like racing games then I'd recommend this one.

Marvel U.A. - Rent - This game offers a fair bit of replay value but seriously, how many times has anyone really played it after they beat it unless new friends came along and wanted to play it. The Hero/Villain Pack was a nice addition but much of this game can be done with a rental "unless" you just love comic books so much that you "must" add this to your collection.

BioShock - Rent - I beat the shit out of this game achievement wise (1000/1100) and exploration wise. Although it is a MUST PLAY GAME. This game can be easily rented and beaten and it doesn't hold enough Replay value for me.

GH II & III - Buy - pricey, but worth it for the friends and replay value

Rock Band - on the fence on this one - the gear keeps breaking for people and GH II & III are steadily becoming franchises. Will a Rock Band 2 come out and will the equipment last long enough to play it?

Assassin's Creed - rent - same as BioSock, once you do everything, it's over.

Gears of War - Buy - simply because it offers hours of replaying online enjoyment. However, part of me really thinks this will become a Greatest Hit a bit after Christmas and I'm really pissed that it's not one already since it's older and has sold more than many of the greatest hits already available. ;/

XBox Live Arcade - Thought these games were worth looking at or at least downloading the free trial.

The * beside them means I would buy it or already have it.

*Aegis Wing - free, play it, its fun!
Asteroids and Deluxe
*BomberMan Live
Boom Boom Rocket - fun to look at but not worth it past the trial
Castlevania: SOTN
Centipede & Millipede
*Contra
Defender
Dig Dug
*Double Dragon
*Feeding Frenzy
Galaga
*Gauntlet
*Geometry Wars - I can't say enough good about this. ADDICTIVE!
Golden Axe
Hexic - I got this free but deleted it, anyone know a way I can get it back?
Marble Blast Ultra
Missle Command
Ms. Pac Man - get at least one Pac Man
Pac Man - " "
Pac Man C.E. - " "
*Puzzle Fighter HD
Small Arms
Smash TV
Sonic the HedgeHog
Sonic 2
Space Giraffe
*Street Fighter II HF - Where's Alpha??!?!?
Streets of Rage 2
Tetris Splash - I like Puzzle Fighter better
*TMNT Arcade
*Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Uno
Wik
*Worms - got this free with my 512 card
Xevious
*Yaris - its free
Yie Ar Kung-Fu
Zuma

Games I'd like to play (but haven't):
F.E.A.R.
Blacksite
Mass Effect
Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata: heard these can be beaten as rentals.
Jericho
Command & Conquer 3 - prolly better as on PC, but I doubt my PC would run it lol
GTA IV
Lost Planet
Dead Rising
The Darkness

input? what's on your list?

I'd say buy Orange Box for PC because the console versions don't compare. Same goes with Call of Duty 4. Rent everything else. Buying games isn't really worth it. Maybe Mass Effect, though.

That's how I feel now. I don't even replay the games I buy, and I'm realizing that more and more. I beat it (maybe) and retire it to the shelf forever.

I wouldn't put GH2 on a buy, 3 maybe, but if you're getting Rock Band, its only good if you really like a lot of the songs on them.

When I rented Gears, I didnt see anyone online except for 6 people. Also, I don't see the need to have a lot of FPS games just for multiplayer. I'd reccomend CoD4 over Halo, except if you're not that good with them. Halo's skill system is better than CoD, but everything else CoD I think is better.

I don't get Call of Duty. It's fun but it doesn't give me that spark of omg I wanna play that Halo does. Only games that ever did that to me were Counterstrike, Halo, and Socom.

The only games I actually felt that from were Battlefield and FFX. When I beat FFX, I played BF2 a lot until FFXI, then when BF2142 came out it was that for a long time.

I don't get why everybody likes halo though. Its an ok FPS with a lame story. I understand it was considered great on console when it came out, but 2 and 3 sucked imo.

I don't know, it's just the multiplayer aspect of it. Halo is the FPS version of Super Smash. It doesn't try to be realistic in a realistic (although futuristic) setting. The guy behind the mask is just a regular dude but he's doing fucking superman type things. Now take that cool superman game and turn it into a PvP FPS.
God damnit i'm high right now.

Halo 3 was the only FPS where I enjoyed playing pvp more than once. It's multiplayer was fun as shit.

Mass Effect is damn good. It might be out on PC in a year or so. That would be enough time for me to enjoy the 360 version enough to justify owning it. Kind of like how Gears of War for PC rapes the living shit out of the 360 version.

COD4 is fun on my friend's 360, but I can run it on PC so yeah lol. PC FPS >>>>>>>> Console FPS
Same goes for Unreal Tournament 3 when it comes out for 360, I already have the damn PC version haha.

COD4 is very scripted in single player and you can fuck with the AI. The Forge and the ability to record matches makes Halo 3 a better online FPS experiece compared to COD4 (COD4 has a better single player and that is it). Still if you want to play COD... you should play it on PC or GTFO IMO. Rainbow Six: Vegas is every bit as fun and more challenging than both Halo3 and CoD4 anyways.

Rainbow Six Vegas is better than Call of Duty and Halo in every way. I like it better than Gears as well.

Rainbow Six Vegas fucking shits on Gears of War and Call of Duty imo. Halo is so much different than those games for me to compare. They're both addicting to me in different ways.

Yeah I haven't played it either. My best friend recently got a 360 and rented it. He said it was amazing also. I don't know why I never played it.

I like Rainbow 6, but I'd rather play CoD anyways. I have it for PC, but it just looks better on an HDTV.

It originally came out on Macintosh/Apple actually. Marathon was the first mouse-look FPS if my memory is correct. My grandfather had Marathon on his old Mac. They redid Marathon on Xboxlive with updated graphics. It looks pretty good, despite the age. BTW Halo 3 reveals that the Halo franchise has basically been a prequel to Marathon all along for the most part.

I don't know the stroy behind any of the Halos, since I might have played them a combined 1-2 hours. The story behind Marathon was killing alines, the first one a spaceship was taken over by them, and you had to kill them. Forget what the second one was. I think it had a vs mode, its hard to remember that long ago though lol. I loved the T2 style dual shotguns though.

You should have played Call of Duty 2 with Tal, Mikey, UltimaJ and Tomake. We just sat on Voice Chat and acted like retards in game. We must have been ban from a different server every night.

the fun thing was when we found a clan server with their team members playing on it, and none of them had admin power. so we just used the "vote kick" feature to kick them all off their own server with our majority vote hahha. server hi-jacking ftw

The answer to this and everything seems to be having a Gamefly subscription. I have the one where I can have 2 games at a time. I might need to play games more to beat them fast enough. I just don't have the free time anymore.
