Been thinking of getting on of these. Any way to rig them up to a TV so you don't have to play on the little screens?

It's a touch screen. Stick to the consoles if your eyesight is bad

Can't wait for FFIV, TA2, CC: RoF, or Dragon Quest IX. Plus there are so many that have come out recently that I haven't had a chance to pick up yet.

I never had any problems seeing on the DS. All those games look good, I just hope the good ones keep coming instead of only a few every year.

btw I absolutely fucking hate games that completely rely on the touch screen to move around and stuff. Zelda Phantom Hourglass and FFXII Revenant Wings are 2 complete disappointments to me mainly because I can't stand the controls. I wish I could return them both. Each game got a good 30 minutes of my time before I couldn't take it anymore.

If anybody wants those games I'll sell them. Each only played once.

Yeah I don't play stylus games either. Etrian Oddysey was okay because you used the stylus to draw the map, not move around. I would've played Zelda for sure if you could use the d-pad.

Yeah...from now on when I read in a review the stylus is the only way to control the character, I won't even bother with the game. DS is awesome and I like the 2 screens, but the touch screen is something I can totally do without.

You don't like the touch screen? without the touch screen the handheld where you can look at a map on one of the screens. It's the best part

I suppose I said that wrong. I like having 2 screens (for reasons like you stated, being able to see the map on one, and play on the other).

What I don't like, are the games that force you to use the stylus on the touch screen to control characters. I could do without the touch screen being used as a controller.

For a controller...I like using the D pad. I hate using the stylus.

Touch screen is cool for some things and a major convenience a lot of the time but total control with JUST the touch stick irritates me sometimes. I've only played Phantom Hourglass a bit (Hooked on Luminous Arc atm) but from what I saw of it it seemed promising, besides some trouble with rolling.

Like Ponuh said, just the fact that it has two screens opens up possibilities for things like menus and maps on screen during play, which I love. Somewhat like in Metroid prime where you can just click the different parts of Samus' interface to see the different bestiary and lore logs, change weapons, etc. However I could never get into Metroid PH because of the tap-tap jumping. I think touch works great in FF12 Revenant Wings, makes highlighting whole groups of soldiers very easy, which is good considering every battle in that game is a flatout bum rush. I really like the feeling that things can be changed on the fly, so I really like the fast-touch menu system in Phantom Hourglass and other games.

That said, I'm basically not even paying attention to the amazing looking Ninja Gaiden game since it's 100% touch. I really hate tap-tap jumping lol.

i really thought i would hate playing games with just the stylus, but phantom hourglass worked great. it kind of changed my mind lol. i'm playing revenant wings now and it works really well in that game too.

Touch controls that are forced suck. Controls that work well both ways are awesome.

Zelda worked fine on touch screen, but I still would rather have used the D-pad. FFXII uses both controls, though combined, so its not that big a problem.

I just can't stand when Nintendo makes games based around the extra features of the console, like the touch. The double-tap jumping isn't too bad on Metroid, or I didn't really get bothered by it when I played it. The touch controls work great for aiming if you ask me. Zelda wasn't too bad if you practice rolling around towns and stuff.

I picked up a DS in early December and finished playing through some of the classics, Elite Beat Agents, Phoenix Wright, Hotel Dusk ... I plan on picking up pokemon to play with my other half who also got me Revenant Wings for christmas. Pretty fun at the moment. I'm thinking about getting an R4 to try out a slew of games to save money, but not sure if I really need it.

Dead, what game were you creaming about again? Wasn't it Etrian Odyssey?

Yep, Etrian Odyssey.

Is an R4 that deal with the blank cartridge you put games on with a flash drive?

I'm still working on Etrian Odyssey. I've put like 80+ hours into it and needed a break.
