One year later... Like with FF12 I was completely uninterested until about a week before release. To be honest, the fact that I have $20 in Bestbuy reward certificates is heavily factoring into my desire to buy this. From what I've heard, the game is slowass and linear as hell for about 25 hours, then it breaks open. The trailers make this story seem like some of the gayest japanoshit I've seen in quite a while. So I'm probably getting this despite everything I just said, and I'm likely picking it up for PS3. Who else is in? |

I just gayed it up in FFXIII for 2 hours. It's a very pretty game. Only problem I had was with Hope and the chick he is running around with. If you would close your eyes whenever those two are in a scene it sounds like a friggin porno. All ohhh's and ahhh's and whimpers and gasps and sighs. So annoying. |

Yeah so far it's not bad, I'm looking forward to learning more about the combat system. and yeah those scenes would sound like porno if the BOY NAMED HOPE didn't constantly push that pink haired loli australian away. I think the most gay, and yet oddly least gay thing in the game so far is that one of the main heroes is a huge pedo with a 16 y/o girlfriend. |

I played for exactly four hours yesterday. The game begins exactly like the Japanese demo, if anybody played that (I got it with JP Advent Children Blu Ray). After an exciting intro, you are thrown into the game with no back-story or idea what's going on. Instead of constantly explaining everything in the story, the game has a "datalog" that explains things as they happen in very good detail. The datalog is constantly updated as you play through the game. It explains everything from back-story, to characters, to enemies you've encountered. Reading the datalog is up to the player, but it's necessary if you want a bettery understanding of what's going on. The graphics are better than I expected. As always the CG cutscenes are breathtaking, while the normal cutscenes are on par with MGS4 and Uncharted 2. Final Fantasy looks better than those games because of the level of detail and colors. I couldn't be more impressed with the look of this game on the PS3. The gameplay looks great as well. The battle system is extremely fast paced but easy to figure out. I was spamming buttons until the first actual boss encounter. I died twice in that fight. Luckily when you die it gives you the option to "retry". When you retry, you are returned to the state you were in before the battle. It gives you a chance to reconfigure anything you want before diving into the fight again. In fights you only control one character and have two AI companions. Eventually you can "Paradigm Shift". Paradigm shift is how you change the AI actions of the others in your party. You can switch between preset paradigms or create your own. Paradigm shifting happens instantly and you can do it as often as you like. Instead of gaining experience, you gain crystarium points that allow you to advance your character through the crystarium system. You basically spend crystarium points to gain HP, abilities, etc through a system similar to the sphere grid in FFX. The characters are interesting and the voice acting is good. The story is enjoyable so far. I know I'm only four hours into the game, but a lot of cool events have happened and I'm already addicted. I'm with Kluya, it's good. I'm glad to see it ripping off some of the things I loved about FFX (Sphere grid, linear play, fast fights.) The little pink-haired loli whore probably has the worst voice of the bunch but the damn australian accent makes all the "o" and "oo" sounds really nice to listen to. My favorite character so far is the black dude. He's about as normal a person as a retarded japanese videogame maker could create. I'm eight or nine hours in and there are still tutorials, I just gained access to weapon adjustments. |

It just got really cool then really gay again all in the span of 5 minutes. It's a fucking rollercoaster ride I tellya. [spoiler]Odin appeared and came to kill me and this kid. When I finally defeated him after like 8 tries he transformed into Sleipnir, still cool...until rose petals burst from the ground where his hooves fell.[/spoiler] Rose petals man. |

He was playing when I went to bed last night and was still on when I got up for work 8 hours later. I think he's on par for a repeat performance. |

Yeah man I went through FF12 in about 4 days with maybe 16 hours of sleep total. I slept at some point this morning without turning the game off, all told I'm only about 13-14 hours in. |
