Heads up, if you like to buy your games from Steam, make sure you're checking it every day from now til 2nd Jan.

http://store.steampowered.com/

If you were around for last year's Steam Christmas Sale, you'll know how this works. If not:

Every day from now til 2nd Jan, Steam will have games up on their site for ridiculous prices. It is not uncommon to see big name games show up for -75% or even -90% off. If a game you want shows up on the "daily deals" - buy it, it's the cheapest you'll see it during the sale.

Be wary of buying things in the publisher deals because although they are good prices, theres a chance the game will show up as a daily deal during the next couple of days. Obviously if a game hasn't shown up on the daily deals once we reach the last day of the sale, that's your last chance to get it at a reduced price.

Wow! I need to create a steam account. I currently use my stepbrother's steam account on my PC. Those are some nice deals.

Oh man, here we go.

Really tempted to get Fallout 3. There are so many good games to buy, but I know I don't have time to play any of them, haha

I love buying games on Steam for 4.99.

I bought the full FFXI package last spring for 2.99. Its nice to have the full install as a digital download. No more swapping 100 disks to install it.

And so the sale comes to an end in 2 hours. I picked up a few things when they hit cheap on the daily deals:

  • Half Life 2 + Episode 1 + Episode 2 for like £3
  • Batman Arkham Asylum for like £3
  • Super Meat Boy for like £2
  • AI War: Fleet Command for like £2
  • Crysis for like £2
  • Machinarium for like £2
  • Mirror's Edge for like £3
  • VVVVVV for like £2
  • Mass Effect 2 for like £10
  • C&C4 (only one I didn't have) for like £5

Only really got around to playing VVVVVV and Super Meat Boy so far (both are awesome). If I didn't already own them then the Serious Sam and L4D packs were absolute steals too.

EDIT: For the uninitiated, £2 is about $3, and £3 is closer to $5.

I got Borderlands GOTY for $25 and the Stalker Pack for $5.

I tried pretty hard to resist buying a lot of these games, but I might get Super Meat Boy and Bit Trip Beat at a later date.

In a slightly unrelated bid I also chose to pay $20 for the humble indie bundle which included: Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos, Revenge of the Titans, World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru, Penumbra Overture, and Samorost 2. That deal started a couple of weeks ago, but it's over now.
