Being arguably one of the worst mainline entries in recent years doesn't disqualify a game from getting a sequel.

2011 Japan, Winter (Between Late Dec-Next March) in US/EU

EDIT: For the record, I didn't hate the game or anything, but it definately could have been a lot less linear for starters.

EDIT2: Now with a very short teaser:

(If anyone is wondering, SE had a big press event today and that's where this stuff's all coming from, remember to check out the other threads on this board.)

I love Lightning so I'd definitely be getting this. I really like that shot of her.

Bah! SE blocked it on copyrights grounds.

I still don't understand the massive FF13 focus from se, they're making this one shitty thing into like 7 games.

Half the things that happened in 13, similar to 12, had absolutely no plot purpose what so ever.
I wish SE would go back to linear story lines. I don't think I've ever fully understood the story of a FF game since psx era.

Well anyho,
Spoiler: show
There's nothing in the story that says what happens at the end of 13 is actually possible. That is they change into crystal for completing their mission but then randomly a while later become human again. The only explanation I can think of, and I'm quite possibly very wrong since its SE after all, is that Fang and Vanille gave them all a new mission. Like when the two of them started out with. They should have all had received a new vision and nothing alludes to that though.

Just speculation on my part.

Meh, I dunno. I'd possibly be interested in an XIII-2 if they don't make it like X-2. I really don't know what to expect from this franchise anymore, to be honest. I loved the music and the scenery of XIII a lot, but the vast linearity of it made me a sad panda.

I don't quite get Kio's comment above about hard-to-follow storylines post PSX, however. But maybe I just didn't pick up on the smaller details in the recent games that Kio did, which is a decent possibility.

It looks like the battle system is exactly the same. Is that a town? I wonder if they will add towns with NPC vendors in this game. That would be a nice minor change lol. I don't like buying my gear from save points!

i made it through the whole game without ever using that retarted save point shop

I always imagined "Kupo" (especially the one on the end of their sentences) to simply be the noise Moogles made. In FFXIII-2 there's a fully voice acted Moogle, and they actually say "Kupo" (Koo Poh) on the end of everything and it's kinda weird. I can't stop imagining Kotee every time.

Direct feed playthrough of the demo at E3, Kupo.

More Vids:

The battle or boss music (whatever's playing) is some kind of Rap Music? -_- Talk about out of place. "Blinded by Light" (FFXIII's battle theme) was one of it's good points, even if it did get a little repetative. SE really should take a page out of a few other RPG series' books and switch up the battle music a couple of times after major sections of the story (Tales of Series comes to mind) so you're not listening to the same theme for 40 hours.

Post subject:  Re: Final Fantasy XIII-2 Confirmed

It sounds like the terrible rap song is BGM and the actual battle music is something straight out of Mega Man X.

Kotee is going to have a fucking orgasm with the amount of Kupo in this game. I'm gonna try and find a way to silence it. It was annoying in those short videos, I can't imagine it for 40+ hours.

I'm going to be more than a little sad if Lightning doesn't have a major part in this one.

Has anybody played this demo? I downloaded and played it over the weekend.

The battle system is similar to FF13, which I actually like. They added something new to boss battles. Timed instances that require you to quickly hit random buttons to dodge or attack. It reminds me of god of war or force unleased. I am personally not a fan because I always forget where the triangle or X buttons are when I have 2 seconds to think.

The moogle is very annoying, and there is no option to silence him. They tried to make it overly cute by spamming a high pitched “kupo” and “kupoppopo”. He says it every 10 seconds which gets old fast. The normal battle music is kinda cool, it reminds me of something from a Mega Man game. The boss battle music however, is HORRIBLE. It’s like a Japanese pop song for 13 year olds.

Honestly the entire demo felt like it was geared towards a Japanese teenager. It caused me to cancel my limited edition pre-order. I am simply not interested in the story or the characters.

I didn't even know there was a demo, I'll download it and check it out tonight... or maybe I won't. I think it's too late to cancel my pre-order so I'm stuck with whatever the game will be.

A summary of what I've heard:

- The game itself is way better than XIII.

- Complete opposite of XIII's linear corridors, lots of areas to explore, branching paths, and even time travel.

- If you liked any of XIII's original cast, don't expect to see much of them. Even Lightning apparently had more screen-time in the trailers than she actually has in the game.

- Noel and Sarah are pretty decent characters, however they are your ONLY characters for the entire game, better get used to them.

- The actual story is still a bit meh.

- Music is apparently kind of so-so.

- The game has a cliffhanger/incomplete ending, seemingly waiting for some kind of DLC that hasn't really been revealed yet. If you're the kind of person who doesn't buy DLC, you might be kind of annoyed at the ending.

- Overall, the game is still better than XIII.

I have the collectors edition pre-ordered from months and months ago. The EU collectors edition was a pretty neat looking package so I figured it'd look nice on my shelf with the rest of the series even if the game wasn't any good, lol.

It was something like a stealbook case, artbook, soundtrack, card things, lots of stuff. I don't remember because the place I ordered it from don't even list it on their site anymore, I'm guessing they ran out, but my account still shows the item as pre-ordered and waiting to ship so it should be fine.

What. The. Fuck.

USA gets screwed on this lol. We get a 4 disc sountrack and a different box for $20 extra.

I checked UK Amazon and their collectors edition is priced the same as USA. I wish I could buy games from that site. I'm pretty sure there is no region coding on PS3 games.

Also after some thought - I pre-ordered the standard edition of this game. I have played through every single Final Fantasy game so far...can't stop now.
