I think I was too busy playing FFXI to really get to all the good PS2 games. But here are the ones I enjoyed!

It is true. Once I got into FFXI, my console playing really died down. Though, to be fair, I think it died down a bit before, anyway. When I went to college, I had a decent computer, and didn't want to hog the TV, so as a result, a lot of my gaming habits transferred from consoles to the computer.

My console playing never really recovered. I've owned a handful of PS3/PS2 games, but I certainly never played them Like I used to play my 16-bit/n64/psx games back in high school.

I also sampled a lot more NES and SNES games because you could rent them real cheap at Blockbuster

What's great about the PS2 is the art is sufficiently evolved from the PS1 days that it still looks pretty damn good once internally up-rezed by an emulator. A modern PC can emulate them with no sweat, and make them look way better than they used to. Which is why lots of companies are now making a quick buck by re-releasing them as "HD Classics" on the PS3.

You can also do neat things like go back and play versions of games you couldn't before. E.g.: FF12-International edition, in English:

The PS2 was one hell of a juggernaut. There are so many damn good games out there you probably never played even IF you weren't stuck on FFXI throughout it's lifespan. Highly recommend you look up some classics and get them going on emulator.

I may have to look into the emulation aspect, Ket. That's a good idea.

I played/beat the first .Hack, FFX, FFX-2 (Ugh), FFXII, Dragon Quest 8 (I think), and that may be it. I think I own one of the Disgaea games for it, but I don't think I beat it.

I could go on more, I think PS2 was the generation of gaming where I had the most free time (high school/college) to actually play games. Haha.

Silent Hill 2 somehow pulls off being terrifying and heartbreaking at the same time:

I still count FFXI as a PS2 game:

I made the switch to Xbox360 after 4 years or so, the graphics looked better and macros responded faster but it had more crashing issues than PS2. My macros kept getting lost in crashes even after saving them to server, really frustrating. I only ever got one contested king claim (Aspi), but I scored a handful King Arthros back when he was contested. I tried reactivating earlier this year but there was some weird new account crap that I wasn't around for so in order to start again I had to get in touch with support. Couldn't recall whatever email address I was using 9 years ago so despite having every address I've lived at, card numbers, reg codes, and personal info, it was a no-go.

Oh well. I'm considering 14 on PS3 but that's a story for another thread.
