Yo,
I live in Japan and want to send my friend in Canada my old GBA. He doesn't know any Japanese so I'm hoping that he can buy cartridges in Canada and they will work on the Japanese GBA that i send him. I know CD /DVD platforms need to be modified but how about cartridge platforms? The Japanese cartridges look identical to the western ones by the way.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help answer this question for me.

My friend moved to japan, and none of his game systems work with japanese games, so i'm assuming GBA is a no as well.

I just found out from a friend here that the old cartridge nintendos (NES and SNES) games worked on both NA and JP consoles. The only thing that prevented it was a little plastic tooth on NA cartridges that wouldnt let you put it in the machine....he said he just broke the tooth off of all his games and they slid into his JP console without a prob. That's just what he says. I haven't tried it so I don't know whether to believe him or not.

Ya, you can just plug it in and the games work fine.
