Post subject:  Your Favourite 5 Video Games/Series

Just wanted to get an idea of what other games other posters find to be their favourites. ^^; Mine are (in no particular order):

Street Fighter
King of Fighters
Metal Gear
Final Fantasy
Tales of ... (Destiny, Phantasia, etc.)

Street Fighter is a game I've been playing since I went with my grandmother to her bowling leauge when I was a little kid. I remember how hard it was to do any specials and how powerful they were when they landed. lol Hadoken took like 1/3rd of your enemies life and the Shoryuken did like half. It was good times. When SFII came out for the arcade and then for SNES, it was like my favourite thing ever. Haha.

King of Fighters was kinda iffy for me when I was younger, but it gets pretty crazy when you start to understand how everything works. All the games in the series are insanely tactical for a fighting game, and tend to have a higher difficulty than Street Fighter.

I played the Metal Gear games for my NES and was never really impressed, in fact I still don't really like them. But for me, MGS was the game for PS that made me love the system. Hideo Kojima did a crazy good job with the writing and develop of the first MGS.

Final Fantasy, well, it's the RPG series everyone grew up with. Story, character development, blah blah. Everyone knows the deal with FF. lol

As Namco's signature RPG series, The Tales of... games all have that feeling of a hybrid between a fighter/action game and a traditional RPG. The story of the games are kinda weak, but the battle system is the real reason I play. It's crazy fun, and your friends can control the other characters in your party in battle. It's pretty unique in that aspect. Sorta like Secret of Mana with the three-way adapter.

So those are m favourite games, which games do you like best?

Megaman
Street Fighter
Zelda
Final Fantasy
Metroid

Megaman is one of the first games I ever played. I played each and everyone as they were released. When I was younger my mother would rent games for us like crazy. Each week we would rent 1-2 games. Rather than buying them. Kind of sucks looking back on it, but atleast Ive played like every game. I just wish I had the old carts.

Street fighter is probably my all time favorite game. I remember when I was in grade 5 I snuck out with some friends and played it for hours. I even beat some older kid who said he was a pro. I also remember it being 11PM and being grounded for staying out so late. And thus started my massive love for that game.

Zelda for me has always been that game that never gets old. Ill confess that I havent finished wind walker. However I love it. I love all of them. Infact I loved the original cell shaded look when they showed it at E3. I rember being like WTF THATS IS HOT. when everyone was like, GAY!

Final Fantasy, I know final fantasy is like the hollywood of all RPG games, still, I love them. I love the stories, I love the characters and so on. Ive still neve played 10 haha.

Metroid is one of the original games I played that made me fall in love with video games. I remember being really excited about Super Metroid and then creaming my pants when I played it. Im still amazed at how well the conversion from 2d to 3d went.

Zelda
Final Fantasy
Warcraft
(Going to group old school Ninteno RPGS: ChronoTrigger, Earthbound,SecretsOfEvermore, there are others)
Mario/Nintendo classics

Zelda is something I have an emotional attatchment to. It's part of my life, it's like a family member or something to me. If someone was insulting it I'm sure I would defend it. It's not a game for me, it's something more lol.

Final Fantasy for the obvious great reasons. Fortunately for me my grandma loved her SNES and I grew up on the classics.

Warcraft II is what I started with when I was about 10. The sound never worked on my comp but it was still extremely fun. WCIII changed my life. It was the first time I was able to spend hours in front of a PC.

The Nintendo Classics I'm grouping into another catergory. ChronoTrigger for the obvious reasons of being so great(I know it's squaresoft) , Earthbound because it's cute as hell, Evermore because your dog is so cool in that game (I know it's enix). And there are others I'm too lazy to post.

Mario and the other Nintendo classics (Zelda is more special to me). Starfox, DK, Luigi, Samus, even Kirby, all great and classic characters in games. As I said before, I grew up on this stuff. Everyday when my grandma lived next door. Before I had the motor skills I would watch my older brother do it and pretend to be playing. Good times

Starcraft
Xenogears
Resident Evil 2
Zelda
Final Fantasy 7

Starcraft- In my opinion one of, if not the best RTS games ever. The balance was insane and they did such great work on the campaign, map editor, and battlenet fights. I wish they hadnt made WC3 and instead made SC2. I would like to see them make a MMO with Starcraft instead of Warcraft :P

Xenogears- Has to be the best RPG ever that I have played...and it wasnt even finished.

Resident Evil 2- I thought this was the best part of the franchise. The different modes it had and the story and everything. And Big Guy! OMFG!

Zelda- Everyone loves Zelda. Cant really say anything that most people dont think already :P

Final Fantasy 7- Same as xenogears. One of the best RPG's ever and got me into RPG's hardcore. Also was never finished!

If you haven't played Lunar yet and you're a fan of final fantasy, go get and play it. Now.

I thought Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was one of the best games I've ever played, I really wish they make another game like it.

Tetris
Millipede (arcade and console versions)
Final Fantasy series
Skies of Arcadia
Silent Hill series

(can I pick 10 more games now because I can't decide on just 5 ;; )

Tetris and Millipede are on this list because I could honestly play these games for hours and hours (and I have) and I absolutely love arcade games - it all started with Street Fighter 2 then I began to play older ones that I never got to see in arcades the first time around (early 1980's games)

Final Fantasy series - that's why we are on this forum anyway, right? heh favorites are FF4 and 6.

Skies of Arcadia - a commonly overlooked RPG for the Dreamcast, it was really a fun and different game and one of my favorite RPGs by far.

Silent Hill series - most people go for RE when they want an action/horror type game but I really like the creepyness/disturbingness of SH. That combined with an amazing story and soundtrack definitely makes it favorite.

ok I am going to cheat and make some honorable mentions ^^; MGS series, Ico, Bubble Bobble (!! Mintsy <3), Zelda series, Street Fighter series, Guilty Gear series, Maniac Mansion, Soul Reaver and on... and on... lol.

Final Fanstasy - thought lately since the garbage that was 10 i've been worried.
Megaman- LOVEEEEED these when i was a kid though during my teens i loved the X series to bad capcom couldn't keep it fresh after 17 sequels.
Castlevania- works of art i swear my all time favorite is symphony of the night. Thats one game i will play for years in i have 2 copys one sealed and one for me to play why? because i love the game that much
Silent hill Series- completly beautiful, this game is all about environment and sound sound sound sound. Other than that the twisted stories totally drag and intangle you.
DRR- lol yea i love it ever seen a chubby guy move as fast as i do lol? My friends cry seeing me play lol , they say themselves too though lol they've never seen someone move that fast
Metal Gear- Yes metal gear the game series is a fluid moving working piece of art, beautiful enganging story, totally intresting. Amazing words honestly cannot describe how much i love these. Especially metal gear solid 3, i played this game for 8 hrs straight and at 5 am in the morning i beat it and saw the ending. 5 am in the morning you hear a grown man crying over what happened in a video game. Basically one of the most best times i've ever had playing Videogames lol

Skies of Arcadia was amazing. Made by the same development team as Panzer Dragoon Saga. The superior rival of FF7 that no one ever played. Haha. Fucker is like 200 bucks on eBay now. lol

Final Fantasy series- same reasons everyone has mentioned... I didn't hate IX, I just thought it was an extremely mediocre. FFVI, thanks.

Suikoden series- I-III were really hot. IV... was not so hot. I really liked the character development in the series. Very solid games.

Mario/Sonic series- I'm combining this into one, since they're rivals of each other. I think I like sonic more because I found the games a bit more challenging (especially sonic and knuckles,) but mario is so nostalgic that I'm not sure. The other thing with mario is fucking duck hunt. That shit ruled hahaha.

Prince of Persia. The two Xbox games I had a lot of fun with. The first one had a better story, but I think the second one edged it out a bit in gameplay. Dual Wielding was a nice addition.

I would throw metroid in there, but I couldn't play the 3d metroid because I get motion sickness playing fps style games. But the 2d ones rule.

I loved Suikoden so much. The first two combined everything I loved about RPGs. Great story, customizable characters, amazing battle systems and did them all well. I was really dissapointed when Suikogaiden didn't make it over.

Silent Hill Series:
Although the games slowly decrease in fun from 2-4. They're amazing, the puzzles, the environment. The game is fucking creepy as shit, it's so much fun. That one part in Silent Hill 3 where you're looking in the mirror and all of the sudden your reflection just stops and you start decaying.... omg that was awesome.

Dragon Force:
I didn't eat for 4 days because I couldn't stop playing this game. I have a Saturn just for this game.

Starcraft:
Not much has to be said here

Diablo II:
99 Javazon. {Nice to meet you}

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (Multiplayer)
I dare any of you to challenge me at Medal of Honor.... I fucking dare you.
