In light of the FF1&2 remake earlier in the year, SE are doing the same for FF4's Cecil and Co. Figured I'd post since I remember this is a big favorite for many of you. :P

With all eyes focused squarely on the Tokyo Game Show and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's possibly "revolutionary" keynote, news out of Nintendo's camps (and many publisher's camps, for that matter) seemed unlikely. However, Nintendo did announce one game today, a portable version of Final Fantasy IV. The game is scheduled for release on December 12 for the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Micro.

The game will be a portable version of the game that was first featured on the SNES in 1991 (known to US gamers as Final Fantasy II), and will feature the music, adventuring, and plot of the original. There will be some additions to the game, such as new areas and new characters with different abilities.

Not many other details are known yet other than it's December 12th release. This would be a very interesting pickup and replay if they give it the same overhaul FF1 and FF2 got compared to their NES originals.

I still liked FFIII(US) better. Never quite made it all the way through II.

FF4 & 6 were my two favorites, and I love playing RPGs on GBA... I will definitely check this out, especially if they added some new stuff. (and hopefully it won't suck)

I'm looking forward to this. Really enjoyed the Dawn of Souls remake for 1-2. Never beat either one for GBA but I blame that on my lack of leaving the house enoguh to need soemthing to fill in for WoW.

I'd much rather play a remake of 6/3e but 4/2e should be very good as well. I actually still have my origional FF3e + instruction manual in my Dvd/VHS/game collection but no SNES to play it on

RPGamer's screenshot is bugged out it's showing as a Red X here, but if you goto their site and try to view it there it redirects you to the home page for some reason, odd. Anyway, I just went to the original source (Here) and it works fine.

Supposedly there's an offical word from SE that was translated to roughly say that the company is interested in creating more FF ports for GBA, and that FF4 was "The first entry of the Final Fantasy Series Port Project".

FF5 and FF6 remakes could be on the cards.
