Legend of Mana or Final Fantasy Tactics. o_@ You might be so hooked that you'll be able to burn hundreds of hours on both o_o; lol. Legend of Mana, after three times through, I still haven't beaten all the quests! @_@ lol. Final Fantasy Tactics is addicting, but some battles are really frustrating.

Metal Gear Solid is good too. ^-^ *runs around in his Tarutaru box of doom*

I didn't like Legend of Mana. I was expecting a Secret of Mana type game and it is not like that at all. They should have just stuck with the same formula. FF Tactics is probably the best game you listed, imo.

I'd go with star ocean, saga frontier, and xenogears out of those. They each have a lot of original stuff and are a lot of fun while being able to be quick to pick up and put down.

I loved Xenogears as my favorite game of all time. FFT is great too, but for pure story and hours spent playign Xenogears beats FFT.

Plsu you gotta love Kung Fu guys fighting against giant robots... and winning.

Legend of Mana - NO
FFVIII - sorry, fanboys, it sucked.
FFIX - brilliant script and dialog, very old-school feel, beautiful art
Metal Gear - certainly a classic, play it if you never have
Saga Frontier - I hated it, but it's got its fans...
Xenogears - exceptionally complex, I wholeheartedly recommend it, but only if you're feeling up to the challenge...
FFT - wonderful game, depends if you enjoy TRPGs as opposed to regular ones

Out of them, I would probably go with FFIX or Xeno, depending on if you want a more light-hearted feel, or hardcore craziness.

Are you serious??

/ebay

Awesome game though. Luca Blight is one of the best villians in an RPG I've ever played.

Just bought Suikoden IV and I am loving it so far. It didn't get good reviews but I have yet to see any flaws.

It doesn't even rival in comparison to the first III games.

Only reason it got bad reviews imo. The others were so much better.

It's been like 10 years since I played it, but I remember really liking it.
