Game Arts is currently making Grandia Online, and it's been scheduled for launch within the year. In an interview with Japanese site 4Gamer, Gungho Online Entertainment president Morishita Kazuki revealed that the PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game is scheduled for release before the Tokyo Game Show 2006, meaning that gamers in Japan will be able to play it before September 22. Morishita hopes to launch Grandia Online simultaneously with Gungho's new portal site "Gungho Mode" for maximum synergy. Because of scheduling conflicts, however, he admits it may be difficult.

Oh my God Kaylia.

Screw the voice acting -- it was terrible as well as some of the kiddy plot. Did you see the combat? Did you see the battle system!? Oh dear lord, I've never played more of an enjoyable style of gameply in an RPG since Grandia. Grandia II was also a wonderful game.

I played that game to death. I got fucking Time Gate with Feena, rofl

Grandia II certainly wasn't the most difficult RPG ever, nor did it have the greatest story ever, but what it *did* have was, quite possibly, the greatest RPG battle system ever. It is the standard to which all other semi-active battle systems should be held. Hell, it's better than any pure active battle system I've ever played.

What other battle system can boast that, through proper skill assignment and good strategy, it was possible to fight almost any battle without a single enemy ever landing a blow? Of course, fighting like this took considerable time, and was dependant on having 5 stars in the Cancel effect skill that every character had... Warp Shoes and really high Speed also helped, since you can cancel an enemy's attack by hitting it as it swings, and you needed a good sense of timing for landing critical blows while an enemy was in the Act stage...

But I digress. :)

It was a good game, a great game, and it ranks high in my list of best RPGs. My favorite battle system ever, and it'll take one hell of a system to unseat it.

I don't remember much about the gameplay, it was like 7 years ago. Only thing I remember was using the same skill over and over, but almost every rpg have that problem, so nothing to complain about here.

About the plot, I don't have any good memories really. It was better toward the end, but the first 3/4 are ...ewww. The world setting was also unrealistic and character were extremly cliché and simple :? Bah, just not my kind of game I guess. I prefer big detailed world like the one in Xeno, Star Ocean or FF game.

I remember liking the graphic, and I think music :)

Did you ever play Star ocean 2, 3, Valkiry profile or Tales series? I'm not saying they are better, but those rpg had original battle system too :)

Haha Kaylia, I can vouch for Aalan and say he has played all those games and still owns them. Grandia II had an awesome battle system, but a mediocre story. A Grandia online game might be fun though. I have high hopes for Grandia III though as the second one was very fun when I originally played it on Dreamcast.

MMO's are the new FPS... ppl are making so man of them these days, and ppl will still buy em. The thing is, do we have time to play multiple MMOs?

As for Grandia, ya it looked cool, but i cant stand the childish atmosphere. sure the battle system was cool, and had other good aspects, but a game w/o a good story is a bad game. 100points to Kaylia though for naming THE best game in the world, Xenogears

I also meant Saga, not Gear only ;p. I love the whole series so much, at least the story. Gameplay tend get boring, but I never get enough of those philosophical plot mixed with many religious elements.

Nothing to be proud off, but I spent about 2 years (and more) on that Xenosaga's forum making those theories thread with a few other posters ;p It was really fun to figure thing that werent implicitely said in the game, or just finding religious/philosophical/cultural reference and understand their meaning in game.
I'm not posting as much much recently on gamefaqs forum (gamefaqs+gamepost uses the same forum), but I'm pretty sure I was one of the three most active user for the last 2-3 years.
</nerd>

Personally, it's what made me love Xenosaga so much. I almost hated the series when I beat it for the first time. My opinion changed so much on my second play throught when I noticed every little details hidden everywhere that make plot much better.

While i love the xenosaga games because I love how all the characters interact with one another, One driving force for me is finding the mystery of chaos's true nature...when it was revealed that his real name is Yeshua (Jesus in Hebrew), i was like omg chaos = jesus
have you seen the latest trailers? I can't wait

Yeah, I saw all 3 or 4 :) Game look much better than first 2, and I hope they won't screw it up since it's the last.

Like you said, it's how every character interact with each other that make it so great. I'm still not sure how they manage to pull so many different connection between everyone and it still make sense :)

Not sure if you saw it, but there is a translation of pied piper (Ziggy's celphone game that will never be released here). http://zarathustra.kaisho.org/
It's really interesting if you want to know what happened to him, and how he is related to everyone.

I wonder if it really will be the last one, i've heard them say it, but then i think wasnt there supposed to be 6 (excluding xenogears ep. 5)...so i will be kind of upset if it was the last
btw the clincher for ep. 1 was when fei fong wong was shown in the ending for a split second...thought i would bring that up

reading pied piper now

Xenosaga was suposed to be 6 episode long at first, but they announced 3rd was the last installment, probably due to low sales sadly.

The series was never suposed to become Xenogears (officially at least  ), but the timeline and event covered correspond exactly to what we know about the time period preceding the Eldridge Crash (Xenogears' intro). I think it's safe to assume XS is a prequel to the event in XG, unless Episode 3 takes a different turn.

*spoilers*
And the little guy would be Abel, not Fei :) He is also Ziggy's stepson (or some sort of incarnation)

Nephilim is probably the only thing I can't figure in this game. She does look like her, but the Elly we know was created by the Wave Existence after it met Abel using the robot chick (Kademony) that was controlling the Zohar.

Her name's meaning alone is weird, and somehow related to Marienkin's tale wrote by Wilhelm Grimm. I've no clue how they will tie this together.

In recent years, the Xenosaga project has seen the resignation of staff who were contributors to the game Xenogears and/or the first episode of Xenosaga. As of Episode II, Tetsuya Takahashi and Soraya Saga were removed from the Xenosaga team. According to a column by Saga, the original draft of Episode II, written by the aformentioned designers, was altered due to their removal from the project. However, this information was recently removed from Saga's website.[3] While Saga is not working on the series anymore, Takahashi continues to be involved, albeit in a non-production role. The music composer, Yasunori Mitsuda, has also left the Xenosaga series as of Episode II. After these events, Episode III was declared to be the last primary Xenosaga episode.

Tetsuya Takahashi, Kunihiko Tanaka (character designer), and Yasunori Mitsuda have been contributors to the series since its origins. While Tanaka (the only remaining member of the three) re-illustrated the characters for Episode II, he has since distanced himself from the project.
