Post subject:  Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Haven't seen any posts about this upcoming mmorpg. I've been looking for something new, now that WoW is pretty much died for me (no more farmgrind thx). RF Online looks like a grind to cap then endless pvp, seems very narrow and linear, also the potion chugging combat system doesn't seem appealing. Vanguard though, looks very promising:

Here's the site: http://www.vanguardsoh.com

It seems to be more of the FFXI type with big focus on grouping and no instancing, good storyline, and being geared toward community. But it also seems like they will be picking up some of the things that FFXI slacked off in, such as quests, pvp options, faction, "things to do", etc.. and most importantly a deep/involved combat system. (it will have group techniques ala skillchains/MB but it will also have better direct combat between yourself and the mob, from what I've seen).

It's being developed by Sigil and published by Microsoft and scheduled for 2006 release (probably q4 I assume).

Just curious what you guys thing I guess :/

Here's some random facts:

There are 19 playable races.

15 Classes (3 tanks, 3 healers, 4 casters, and 5 melee) This is subject to change I'm sure... I think there were 17 classes listed but 2 got dropped. My info may not be entirely correct on this...

You will have 3 spheres - adventuring, crafting, and diplomacy. You change between spheres in town. Each sphere has its own level/advancement (of course) and potentially a separate set of gear. This should provide a more dynamic variety of things to do.

You can buy land and build houses.

Your houses, mounts, boats etc have their own hp and can be attacked/destroyed. You can take other people into your house / boat with you if you want.

Combat involves skills such as "perception" where you predict what the mob is going to do before it does it, and allows you to choose different ways to react (block, counterspell, counterattack).

Many abilities you learn will be learned from fighting the mobs who use them.

Seems kind of cool to me :)
