that looks hot, seems like they are going to go back to the fighting system that was used in X. I just hope it doesnt turn TOO futuristic, the whole series is about magic and stuff, so lets hope they dont go too far from the classics |

Top 5 moments in FF history... 5. Cecil becoming a paladin and fighting himself 4. Palom and Parom turing into stone 3. Death of General Leo 2. Seeing Terras find out she is an esper 1. Kefka destroying the world - seriously when has a villian ever sucessfully pulled that off, yeah sure you kick kefka's ass later, but he still destroyed the world of balance before you do it. In my opinion none of the newer generations FFs have yet to compare to the original 16bit ones storyline wise. When I can look at a 16bit character with a deformed head, and smile and have real nostalgia for the character, you know they told a kickass story. I'm buying a PS3 for the fact I'm a gamr and will be required by gamr law to have one, it doesn't hurt that FF will be available for it though, not one bit... |

I absolutely hated those two annoying kids, I was glad to be freaking rid of them. It's a shame you end up having to use them again later in the GBA version. Replace with Galuf vs. Exdeath irl. ![]() |

I never really liked Palom and Parom. I found them annoying too. although I thought it was clever how they stopped the walls from coming in. |

I was so mad, i loved them, they had kick ass magik, and if you played the game when it first came out, you didn't know you got the magic dude later on. so it was like OMFG I have like no kickass magicians now except this "guy". Plus you had to walk past them to get back out of the castle... thats just not right lol |

Back on topic, I think its harsh to say the NewGen FF's lack storyline. I've had nothing but good times playing pretty much all FF's. I really want to play FFX though, i haven't to date. |

I think its harsh to say the NewGen FF's lack storyline. I've had nothing but good times playing pretty much all FF's. I really want to play FFX though, i haven't to date. They have storylines, just nothing compared to the originals. The originals had to rely on composed music, battle setups, and real plot lines to develope their storylines. The new age ones just used fancy CG scenes to make it all sound awesome. Compared to other games, the new age FFs have amazing storylines, compared to their predescors with nintendo, their storylines are garbage. The whole Aeris dying shit was almost a complete rip from the previous general leo dying, but it was done with Cg to make it more dramatic... meanwhile when I think of character being killed off that were memorable. I think of the genral leo thing first. Maybe it was because you thought he was the man, maybe bcause he was being setup as the sympathiser who might help you stop the emperor, maybe it was the fact that when he died all the esper came to his rescue, maybe it was the fact kefka commited genocide on all those espers right after killing him... just maybe its because it made so much more sense to kill general leo like that. All I know I've always been disappointed with the new FFs storylines, until the very end, when they blow their big "oh my god" load all over your tv screen. I'm not the only one with the opinion either, its said everywhere, even by relevalent gaming magazines and shows. Its not like the games are horrible, is just they have lost that luster they had with the original grandfather games. I'm hoping this one has a chance, it will be a welcome detachment from take "random guy A" and give him a sword and have him become a hero. Put it this way, Secret of Mana, not a FF game, but a square game. Was amazing in its hayday, downright in my opinion one of the best rpgs ever made, and one of the best snes rpgs ever made. Every single mana game made after wards, is garbage! You know why you can tell their garbage, they have almost no CG. Square concentrates all their CG artist on the FF franchise, leaving mana franchise to the basics, without the good storylines, you end up with the crap we see now in the mana series. I never did the research, but I can almost bet money that some writer or writers stopped working at square around the same time they made ff7. Its the only way to explain the sudden drop in story quality from my viewpoint. |

I loved Palom and Parom. I always thought it would be cool if you could revive them. In the higher levels their twin magic could be something dope like W. Meteor (spell FuSoYa and Golbez use on Zemus/Zeromus). I haven't played the GBA one yet...I need to do that. I've played FF2(4) and FF3(6) 28937892373 times in the past. Best 2 RPGs ever made IMO. I'm overdue for replaying them. It's been a long time. |

Just play the GBA version. Once you get the Lunar Whale, you're allowed to switch in/out party members from the elder's house at Mysidia. You can switch in Yang, Edward, Palom, Porom, and Cid (But not Tellah, he's dead.) There's also a nearby bonus dungeon with some bosses to get some up-to-date gear for them all. |

I never finished X-2 X-2 isn't as bad as it seems, it just sucks running around doing the retarded missions at first. As soon as the actual story starts going it's nice. I hate how they ended it though. |

I played the old FFs when they came out and loved them. I like and respect the newer ones also (7+). I'm not bitter about the way Square made cool graphics and FMVs a big part of the story (I actually enjoy the FMVs a lot). I think FFX is an awesome game. I liked the sphere grid system and the gameplay was fun. Story sucked me in and the ending made me cry irl (girlfriend was watching it with me and didn't understand). Never played X-2. |

My favorite FF game is FFT. I'm also crazy about Legend of Mana. I've played them both over & over & over again. I didnt like 8 as much as 7, didn't play 9 or 10; loved 11. I didn't get to play the other FF's enough to talk about them, but i'm sure they were juicy like Zelda was. I recently watched my friend beat Super Metriod in 40 minutes. Had about 3/4's of secrets revealed; it was amazing. I realized how fun these games still are, and started playing my oldies again; better graphics helps a lot. |

I also love the old FFs. The new ones are good too, though. It's really been consistent. Most of the time you see people (elitists) who say "Paaaaah, everything after six is god awful! You have to be a child to enjoy Final Fantasy 7! Ha ha ha! Now go clean my monocle in my exotic elephant urine mixture" or you get people who have never even finished or even played the early installments and hailing FF7 as the greatest Final Fantasy. So yeah, I agree with Kluya; the series has changed alot but has remained consistently good for different reasons. |

I played Final Fantasy 4 and 6 before 7, but I still think 7 is my favorite. 6 is a close second. The dialogue was a bit rough in 7, I know, but the core story is still an excellent, excellent example of proper pacing, structure, and depth in a plotline. Sephiroth is probably the second-most famous videogame enemy of all time (behind Bowser), for good reason. Cloud, despite being a whiny emo brat sometimes, had realistic issues and personality flaws. Tifa had large breasts. An excellent game. |

Speaking of Bowser, Mario RPG is easily as good as any FF. Same goes to Chrono Trigger. |
