so, i finally got my hands on this game from a friend i work with and its pretty fun. just some questions for those of you with paladins, whats the best skill path and gear to get as i go through the game.

Also, if any of yall wanna help my battle.net guy out, that would be grand!

paladin is much better than it used to be, primarily because they tweaked the power of blessed hammer

i have a level 90 hammerdin on US-East, although i hardly play it now, here's my gear first of all if you wanna know:

weap: runeword "heart of the oak"
hat: shako with 15% to all resistance jewel
amulet: +3 to combat skill +10% fast cast
body armor: runeword "enigma"
belt: arachnid mesh
boots: war traveler
shield: herald of zarakum with rune "Um" for 22% to all resists
gloves: magefist
ring1: bul-kathos' wedding band
ring2: raven frost or 27nagel

merc weap: runeword "insight"
merc hat: vampire gaze with perfect ruby
merc body armor: runeword "fortitude"

i have +18 to all skills, 270 magic find (gear+charms), max all resists, 1618 hit points, 17000 defense, and my hammer does 11000+ minimum damage per hammer, and i basically never run out of mana and if i do i have potions, also i basically never die, nothing can hit me (unless cursed) and no magic hurts (except those chain lightning ghosts)

for skill points, i followed a suggest path and it worked very well:

the challenge with hammerdin is positioning yourself in relation to your targets. if fighting a crowd, i position myself right smack in the middle of the crowd. nothing to fear: youre a paladin. then throw your hammers. if any crowd stragglers remain, sidestep and throw more hammers and they should die. since your left click will be hammers, if you want to reposition yourself you are forced to click on a spot of ground where no enemy exists (since if you click on an enemy you'll just throw a hammer). once you get enigma armor you can just teleport yourself into the middle of the crowd, this is much nicer.

if fighting 1-on-1, i like to get to the bottom left of my target so my hammer immediately hits the target, and if its a big target like baal it can spiral around and hit him again. hell mephisto takes about 5 seconds, hell diablo about 7 seconds and hell baal is about 25 seconds.

I used to do maxed synergy trap assassins or bow amazons, but I heard multi shot sucks now and strafe is the way to go.

thunderstomp has a lv 92 bowazon and its clearly a better killing machine than hammerdin. he uses the grand matron faith runeword bow and just got a killer helm (3 sockets each with 40% enhanced dmg + 15% ias jewels). yea he kills anything before he even sees it. he fires like 5 sets of arrows per second like a machine gun. he was saying strafe sucks, multishot still rules. the difference is that guided arrow pierce is much less potent.

ah, I see. I'd start playing it again, but I get bored with it fast.

Before the big update that added synergy, I made a strafe amazone and everyone was like "lol you suck" but then I made a multi after wards and everyone's like "strafe is where its at".

I wanna try to get in on that ladder ranked thing, I forget what its called, when it first starts, instead of joining in after 6029348 people are lvl 99.

You might want to try a "Smiter" paladin. They're strong because smite goes through the targets defense I believe. Haven't played in a while though, and I can't connect to battle.net on this computer either. I'll try to find a good build for that one if you're interested.

i had my first taste of what is called blessed hammers... they are sooo cool, some guy gave me a +2 hammers +2 concentration weap and man, im kickin arse

lmao..... I've gotten back into the fray of Diablo 2 fairly recently lol. Haven't gotten back onto net with my character yet though. Just been leveling solo.

62 pld atm (used to have a badass assassin back in the day and same with sorc, but I deleted all my saves and everything A LONG TIME AGO).

I didn't do anything with blessed hammer lol. I'm a total melee pld lmao. I've assraped zeal to cap and another party based aura (can't remember name atm) that increases attk speed, dmg, acc.... SOooooo I guess I've set it up more so as a party based pld.... in case i do ever log back into battlenet. My hp atm is like 1000 already and my mana is like 200ish (roflmao). Got a magic item find gear set and an actual DD/tank set that I use deepending on mob difficulty lol. I'd probably get my ass handed to me in pvp, but the setup I have going atm would be great for a party so maybe I'll log in to net one of these days.

Is there anyway to restore your canceled characters like a "Return to Hell" campaign like FFXI has "Return to Vana'diel"?

I mean, I can still see em when I log on. Just they have "Expired" writen by em.

Should I email Blizzard? Will they laugh at me and call me a suxor like anyone who bothers to reply to this post?

O and what Sorc is the best? I made a blizz one (expired of course). What kind of Sorc should I make if I decide to play it again and make a new one?

If you're levelling offline and want to bring your character to battle.net you'd have to use the 'open' bnet. That's what I got from that anyway. Open bnet is pretty much to see who can hack the best items using item editors. Last time I got on it was at least.
