![]() ![]() Start here: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1 Select your OS and download DOSBox, which is a bitchin' DOS emulator since this game is too old to run on newer versions of windows (That being any version beyond Windows 3.1). Get the game: http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/uwp-uml/misc/bomb32.zip Next download the actual game and put it in a folder close to your root directory. Run the game: Open up DOS Box, you should be at a "Z:\" Prompt. 1. Type mount c c:\"name of folder with game" EXAMPLE: I extracted my game in a weird place so I would type Code: Z:\mount c c:\folder\tankwarslol
2. Then type "C:\" to get to your mounted folder. 3. Type bomb.exe which starts the game. Controls: MENU: Use arrow keys to navigate menus. IN GAME: -LEFT and RIGHT keys to control angle. -UP and DOWN keys to control power (1-1000) -TAB KEY to switch between weapons. -Press ENTER to fire when ready. -Some weapons or equipment require special input or keys. Follow on screen direction. Vicks and Herb's guide use V and H keys respectively to activate. SHOP: Plus(+) and Minus(-) to add or subtract purchasable inventory, press ENTER to buy, ESCAPE when done. Tips: -You start off with a few basic weapons, being lead balls, incinerators, and grenades (more like cherry bombs). Lead balls to no damage, but you can use them instead to determine where your shots will land. Grenades do the same, but pack a little punch. Incinerators are your standard weapon and can kill on a direct hit. -How much power you have is determined by how many men (or how much health) your tank has. One man designates 10 power. -Watch wind direction. Use it to your advantage and adjust power and angle accordingly. Some computer types work better with and without wind. -They're many, many unusual weapons to buy. Try shooting "CRI20 N/D," my favorite weapon, at the base of a hill. Recommended options: Mess around with the options til' you find a setting you like, but for best play I recommend keeping rebounding walls OFF, turning Trails OFF, and keeping the background OFF or on Stars. Enjoy this forgotten piece of video gaming history. |

The first verison of tank wars was released in 1990. VICTORY Edit: From Wikipedia Quote: It was also not as feature-rich and contained some different AI class names, such as "Rifleman" and "Twanger" (which oddly enough were also AI class names in the slightly earlier artillery game, Tank Wars).

Scorched Earth, Worms Armageddon, Pocket Tanks; all those games evolved from this one I swear. That is why Tank Wars is the best game ever made, lolol |

LMAO its the same as Scorched Earth back in 1991 when I first learn how to use BBS on 2400, 9600 modem speed that was using phone lines. This system also was running on Dos mode as well before windows stop using dos as boot up system and made it without one. Yes "Scorched Earth" was very best game in 91 but one you have is damn clone game with another name changed. |

I have played Tank Wars extensively, and its upgraded brethren, Pocket Tanks (Deluxe!) as well. I think Tank Wars wins out of the two...however... The best DOS-based game of all time (with another player, of course) is Liero. It's difficult to run on modern machines, even with DOSBox, but if you can make it work, it's one of the fastest, intense video game experiences I've ever had. Kicks the shit out of Tanks and Worms. |

I almost derailed this thread for a sec... I think I've played Tank Wars a long time ago when I was a child, but I have played a newer version this year at school. Its all good. |
